Mask Guide Additional Information

Our Mask Comparison Guide is designed to assist people in updating their CPAP mask to the latest and best mask. We have used our very considerable experience with more than 30,000 patients to build this model. Anyone using this guide should be aware of four things.

Mask Equivalence

If the mask you are trying to match is not a good fit for you, the comparable masks may well be wrong as well. We assume that your old mask is the correct size for you.

Uniqueness

Every face is unique and special. Therefore, sometimes a mask that is very comparable in many ways will not work properly due to what would in most cases be a minor difference.

Product Excellence

We suggest only the best masks. Some masks work for a wide range of noses and faces. These masks may have few or no other masks referenced as possible replacements. This is because no other masks can cover the full range of that product.

Consider an example. A Respironics Profile Lite Gel Mask (Medium Small) can be replaced with a Respironics Comfort Classic Mask (Small). Going the other way, The Comfort Classic can cover a number of sizes of Profile Lite masks. Therefore the guide does not suggest a Profile Lite as a comparable mask to the Comfort Classic. It is impossible to say which of the seven Profile Lite sizes would be best. It could be the small, medium/small or even the medium. The Profile Lite is a great mask but it is quite specific in the size of nose it will fit.

Here is another point to ponder. Just because a mask can work for a number of nose sizes does not mean that it is really good at sealing any of those faces. Understanding this logic will make it easier to use the comparison guide to advantage. As always, we are watching our email and ready at the telephone to assist you in any way we can.

Nasal Pillows and Prongs

Do not forget Nasal Pillows and Nasal Prongs! These are not mentioned as they can not be compared to masks or even each other. They are serious systems deserving consideration.
