Only CPAP with Integrated Battery   June 30, 2008

(5 out of 5) by Michael B, Schoenbrunn, AE

"If you're reading the reviews on the Everest 2, you’re probably looking for a battery-operated CPAP machine and asking yourself: Will this system function efficiently on battery power during travel or a power failure and how does it compare in other respects? I’ve been in therapy for 10 years, have gained some experience with different machines and can say that the Everest 2 can hold its own in a comparison with other machines – even without the battery pack. We live in a small town prone to power outages for some reason and every time my machine stopped working in the middle of the night – a dangerous situation actually – I swore that I’d get a battery-backed CPAP. When I finally did get around to looking into what was on the market, I found that there wasn’t a big choice – if you only consider full-fledged machines and exclude lugging a marine battery around. I liked the Everest’s small footprint and the module stacking. So the only question was, would it hold what the technical data promised? Well, I got the machine with the whole caboodle (you can’t beat CPAP.com’s Traveler’s Special money for value). The Everest (31 -dB) is a tick louder than my very-quiet present machine (29 -dB). The humidifier works just as well and is easy to keep clean. The ‘Traveler’s Special’ is a good system that can be used not just for travel or as a backup unit, but as a mature machine at a very competitive price (at least on CPAP.com). Of course the Everest has absolutely no competition if you take its battery pack and mobile power adapter into account. At my pressure (11 cm H2O) I get 7+ h on one battery charge w/o the humidifier and 3.5+ h with the humidifier set at 4. So get an extra battery pack for an entire night of comfortable therapy – at home or underway. Hope this overview helped."

Cute Little Machine!   June 27, 2008

(5 out of 5) by Lee Ann G, Oakton, VA

"I have not used the machine yet, but I absolutley love the size, shape and ease of this!
Now, I can relax on stormy nights and during power outages.
I looked into other ways of powering my ResMed machine, but it was complicated, heavy or messy. The Everest was no more expensive than a fancy battery pack, and a whole lot easier.
I really love the bag, too."

Works great   June 26, 2008

(5 out of 5) by Michael P, Gaithersburg, MD

"Whats to say. Its a battery that fits right under the CPAP. It is very compact and works exactly as advertised. I can finally sleep at night even when the power is out or on a trip."

It's a little noisy,,,   June 24, 2008

(4 out of 5) by Delbert M, Hudson Bay, SK

"Its a little noisy when i breathe in but, i will just have to live with it. Overall, it is a good machine because I like the battery pack it will be good at hunting camp.

Thanks!

First Impressions   June 12, 2008

(4 out of 5) by Shirley W, CA

"My first replacement CPAP in 11 years of using a Respironics Solo which is still working. Looking forward to this smaller travel unit. It functions just as well as the larger one. Only a bit noisier but it seems to be an echoing air rush I'm hearing from the humidifier, I think. It doesn't disturb my sleeping at all. I've always used a passive humidifier so I don't need any heat. I can get 3 nights before filling the humidfier again.
I was hoping to reduce the size and weight of my CPAP equipment esp. for air travel and when I don't have a car. I am disappointed that with the CPAP, humidifier, battery and it's base, the Mobile Charging Converter, and the several cords and power units that ISN'T going to happen. All this is quite bulky and heavy and I'll need to use the extra carry case. I'd hoped to be able to eliminate it."
