Best mask I've tried so far

"I've gone through over a dozen different masks... this one is the best so far... I am a heavy mouth breather and have a mustache and beard. I have had challenges with other masks, due to the high pressure I need, in that I have had to tighten them so much to keep them from leaking. I used to wake up throughout the night, either from pain or from leaking air blowing into my eyes - or from the "fart" noise some masks would make against my cheek.
This mask has been the most comfortable to wear with minimal leaking and NO pain from the pressure on the bridge of my nose that full faced masks would give.
In order to prevent dry mouth, I have my humidifier set to the max which does cause high levels of condensation in the tube which in turn causes a "gargling" noise... To deal with this, keep a small towel by the bed, turn the machine off, unplug the hose, drain water onto the towel, plug the hose back in, turn the CPAP back on...
The mouthpiece does take some getting used to - but as I said, all in all, the best I've tried so far..."

Trial & ERROR

"I use a full face mask due to trouble breathing through my nose. I had been wishing for an oral mask for about a year. When I saw this one I was just about as excited as when George Lucas announced he was making episodes 1-3. If you haven't used an oral mask before, GET THE RETURN INSURANCE!!! I couldn't make it work at all. I must breath just enough through my nose to make a huge difference when I was restricted to my mouth only. It was just as bad as when I had the nasal only mask. I was waking up all the time (many, many times each night). It didn't matter how much humidity I pumped into that thing, my mouth was dry, and I drooled a ton - figure that out.
I am a huge believer will power and the power of the spoken word. It didn't matter how much I told myself this was going to get better, I couldn't make it work. I used it for about a week, after which I was exhausted.
If you are really interested in an oral mask, I would say go ahead and try it. It might work out awesome for you. But, if it's the first time you're trying an oral-only mask, just get the return insurance CPAP.com offers. The insurance is a cheap investment for the quality of life a good night's sleep can bring."

"So far its only been a few weeks that I have used this mask.I'm a first time user of a cpap machine and have found that I can't take the pressure from the machine up my nose. So this has helped with the use of a huminafier attached to the machine.I'm still meeting with my doctor to turn the pressure down some more to help me, Hopefully I'll be able to use and sleep through the nigh! Good luck to all!!!"

Oral Mask
August 16, 2008
(3 out of 5) by Kathleen K, MI
"Since being diagnosed with sleep apnea, I have tried almost all the different styles of masks that are available for use. The Oracle is good in comparison to the rest of the styles because it is less restrictive on the head and does not leave marks on my face. The only think that I have had trouble with is the nose plugs, which is probably a matter of getting used to them. Without them though, I tend to make a loud snoring noise every few minutes as I try to breathe through my mouth. All in all mask is good, but I am not sure if it will be the one that I use every night or not."
