"When I input my facial measurements, this is the mask that cpap.com recommended. I was thrilled to try another mask, because the only mask that worked for me in the past was the Respironics Comfort Gel - which is a great mask, but it breaks easily and quickly.
The Mirage Activa fit well, but the flaw I have found is that at higher air pressure settings, you can feel the rise and fall of the mask on your face. This is worse because my cpap machine is set to decrease air pressure on exhale, so it ends up feeling like a slow beating drum on my face as I inhale and exhale. I eventually fall asleep but this problem keeps me from falling asleep right away like I usually do.
I will continue to try and adjust the settings on my cpap to try and find a solution because I really do not want to go back to the Comfort Gel mask that broke so easily because of the poor design of the ball and socket release mechanism. The Mirage has an excellent release mechanism that hopefully will not break over time."
"The ResMed Mirage Activa is a well constructed nasal mask, however it is too bulky and heavy to be supported by its headgear. When I tighten the headgear enough to keep this mask in place I get a red and irritated nose. When I tighten the headgear just enough to get a good seal that seal is lost when I move my head. I bought the "Gecko" nose shield, but it feels creepy. ResMed's selling point for this mask is that it is perfect for active users, therefore the title "Avtiva". It clearly misses that mark. Purchase return insurance if you plan on this purchase. I did not and this was a mistake. I will purchase a "Mirage Ultra II" without headgear to replace "Activa" - the good news is that the headgear that came with "Activa" will interchange with the "Ultra II" and will work fine for this lighter mask. ResMed needs to redesign the headgear for "Activa" in a manner more like the "Vista" so that the headgear criss-crosses over the top of the head, thereby supporting this large and heavy mask."
"have had regular mirage mask in past, but this new design is excellent - takes a small amount of getting used to since it puffs up and it takes a few days to get the straps adjusted just right, but I have zero leaks during the night and my therapy works that much better"
"I have been a CPAP user for about ten years and have tried various masks, including Face and Nasal. I accidently tried this mask about two years ago and I have been pleased since that time. I now do not keep trying masks to see if this one is more comfortable or works better for me or last longer. This is the one for me and I highly recommend it."
"I'm using the Mirage Activa cushion with the Mirage Activa LT Frame (quieter valve). I don't like the Mirage Activa LT cushion. The cushions and frames of the Mirage Activa and the Mirage Activa LT are interchangeable. I think the Mirage Activa is the most comfortable and best sealing mask currently available."
Yes, all Activa nasal cushion sizes are interchangeable on the mask frame.

Help Me Choose - Mask
All CPAP masks work with all machines.
Yes. Federal law requires we have a valid prescription on file before we ship your mask, machine and/or humidifier.
We provide many easy ways to get your prescription:
Medicare allows for mask cushion replacement every three (3) months, and a complete mask system replacement every six (6) months. CPAP manufacturers and vendors suggest these replacement schedules as well.
In our experience, most mask cushions begin to deteriorate after about six months of use. The cushion eventually becomes too soft to hold a seal. The headgear straps lose elasticity and must be tightened more and more to get the same quality seal.
We strongly suggest replacing cushions and pillows as soon as they start to soften. Air leaks may reduce the effectiveness of CPAP therapy and headgear that is too tight may cause facial sores at pressure points. In most cases, replacement headgear is available if it is stretched out or the Velcro worn out.
To see what parts of your mask are replaceable refer to our Replacement Part Finder. Just search for your mask to see all of the replaceable parts.
Masks should be washed daily with warm water using a very gentle soap or baby shampoo, and left to air dry. Never use antibacterial soap as it will break down the silicone of the mask cushion. Avoid soaps that include lotion which can coat the mask and cause it to lose its seal. A safe cleaner is the Control III Disinfectant CPAP Cleaning Solution. Remember, going to bed with a clean face will improve your seal and protect the lifespan of your mask.
The best time to clean your mask is in the morning after use. This removes the oils left behind from your skin which can reduce the lifespan of your mask. We recommend using mask wipes to make daily morning cleaning easy. The mask wipes are made from materials that will not break down your mask.
The ideal CPAP mask is the one you can't tell is on. Start with minimal masks. If you are strictly a nose breather, the nasal mask is a good choice. The nasal cushion creates a very good seal around your nose and has a small profile. Nasal masks are also offered in gel, which many find comfortable. The SleepWeaver Advance is the only cloth mask on the market and is a very popular choice among nasal mask users.
Most nasal masks have a forehead support which offers stability and support for the mask.
