The Mirage Quattro Full Face Mask is an innovative design that features an advanced seal that adjusts for a better fit. The new MicroFit dial allows the mask forehead support to be adapted to the user.

Users lose pressure directly from the mouth when therapy pressures are high and occur more commonly with BiPAP treatment. This happens usually through leaks from the mouth or via mouth breathing while wearing a nasal mask. The resulting loss in pressure may bring about flu-like characteristics, inadequate sleep therapy, and disrupted sleep. Since the Mirage Quattro full face mask covers both the nose and mouth it prevents pressure loss from mouth breathing thereby improving both your comfort and your sleep therapy.

MicroFit Dial allows CPAP users to find the right fit using 24 small incremental adjustments. The dual-wall cushion and forehead move in tandem as the dial is turned. This design is intended to address difficultly with "first time" fittings and ensure that is it not necessary to over tighten the mask's headgear.

"This is the first full face mask that I haved Used. It is very uncomfortable. It hurts my nose and leaves deep indentures. I donot have claustrophobia but I cannot go to sleep after trying several hours. I have used another mask with a chin strap to keep my mouth closed and averaged 7 plus hours sleep over 30 night period. I am unable to use this equiment until I obtain a different type mask."

"I bought the medium size, and found that it leaked at both bottom corners. My best guess is that I should have bought a small size. But, since this was the first one of these masks I have bought, I also got the return insurance, so this one will go back and I'll see what I want to do about a small size. When it wasn't leaking, the Quattro mask breathed free, was comfortable and generally really good. I was looking forward to a great night's sleep. Better luck next time, I guess."

Mirage Quattro cushions are not interchangeable. Each sized cushion has a corresponding mask frame.

How often should I replace my mask?

Medicare allows for mask cushion replacement every three (3) months and complete mask system replacement every six (6) months. CPAP manufacturers and vendors suggest these replacement schedules as well.

In our experience, most mask cushions begin to deteriorate after about six months of use. The silicone eventually becomes too soft to hold a seal and headgear straps must be tightened more and more to get the same quality seal.

We strongly suggest replacing cushions and pillows as soon as they start to soften. Air leaks may reduce the effectiveness of CPAP therapy and headgear that is too tight may cause facial sores at pressure points. You can also replace the headgear of your mask if it is stretched out or the Velcro worn out.

How do I care for my mask?

Masks should be washed daily in warm water with baby shampoo and left to air dry. Never use antibacterial soap as it will break down the silicone of the mask. Avoid soaps with lotion or lanolin which can coat the mask and cause it to lose its seal. A safe cleaner is the Control III Disinfectant CPAP Cleaning Solution. Remember to go to bed with a clean face, this will improve your seal and protect the lifespan of your mask.
The best time to clean your mask is in the morning so that the oils from your skin are removed. We recommend using mask wipes to make daily morning cleanings easy. The mask wipes are made from materials that will not break down your mask.

Why might I need a full face mask?

If your mouth drops open during sleep, a full face may be selected to allow for the CPAP airflow to be delivered through both the nose and mouth.

Some CPAP users move to using a full face mask after finding that using a nasal mask along with a chinstrap does not meet their sleep therapy needs. Some CPAP users use a full face mask when suffering from seasonal allergies.

I sleep on my side or stomach, what are my options?

Sleeping on your side or stomach is preferable to sleeping on your back because sleeping on your back worsens all forms of sleep-disordered breathing. However, sleeping on your side or stomach can present problems to CPAP therapy. Both positions can put pressure on one side of your mask increasing your leak rate. Your options are to (1) try a mask that other side sleepers like (2) try bed pillows made for CPAP users.

Masks: We have found some masks allow for movement in sleeping position better than others. See our recommended masks for Active or Side/Stomach Sleepers.
Special CPAP Pillows: Regular bed pillows can put pressure against the mask and cause leaks. CPAP pillows are made with CPAP users in mind. These special pillows are designed to minimize the contact of the CPAP mask with the pillow, even when you are sleeping on your side.
