Not intuitive

"I was very excited about getting this machine that would give me more feedback about my cpap use and needs. I am a bit disappointed in this software; the directions for use aren't very clear and even after a couple of weeks use I haven't begun to figure out how to use the software. I have not yet contacted support, but hope that they will be able to sort it out for me once I do."

Smartllink YES, manual and information not so good.

"Of course, this is my first APAP so I have nothing to compare it to, but the user interface was a little sketchy. I could have used a bit more of an explanation as to how to set things up and extract data.
For example, the box contained both a cable and a little bump drive looking unit, no explanation of how or what I was supposed to do with them.
I finally found the slot in the side of the "bump drive" and deduced that I should put the SD card into it so that the computer could read and process the collected data.
Sure didn't see anything in the box that told me that. And I looked, several times.
Software is OK, but not exactly user friendly. I suppose this is because trained medical professionals -- not me -- are supposed to be reading and calibrating it.
I like the nice solid way that the Smartlink snaps onto the back of the unit."

"Very easy to install. Runs even on Windows 7!. Uses a standard memory card and records much longer periods of data. Software has worked flawlessly. I am very happy with this purchase."

Just what an APAP user needs
July 26, 2009
(5 out of 5) by Berthold O, MOUNT SHASTA, CA
"I bought this a couple of months ago and have been using it since then. It does just what you need, telling you about leaks and AHI and some other more esoteric stuff. It lets me see what happens on a night to night basis which I need in order to evaluate what effect the changes I make to my mask and chin strap have. Well worth the money, it is kind of silly not to have this unit if you have the machine as the whole apnea deal is complicated and changes based on a number of factors and you can only go to the sleep doctor so often.
It set up easily on the machine (you do have to take care to make sure all three of the feet set properly into the APAP), software installed easily and the data is simple to understand (DeVilbiss has sleep webinars on its website for those who work in the field but are accessible by all and help to understand the data).
The readout from the machine does differ from the what the software shows, and this is what DeVilbiss wrote to me about this--"
We evaluated the SL files that you sent from your Intellipap. The
software Engineer said there is a slight difference but nothing to be
concerned about. The difference in the numbers is because one is an
estimate and the other is the true AHI. The numbers on the cpap quick
view menu are basically a type of estimate, whereas the report generated
by the software uses the actual values to determine the AHI. The most
accurate one would be the software report. Please let me know if you
have any other questions."
I have no complaints about this and am impressed with DeVilbiss' willingness to help out."

SmartLink is awesome
April 21, 2009
(5 out of 5) by Charlie P, Sanborn, NY
"The module connects to the Intellipap positively and securely. Another well engineered piece by Devilbiss. Removal using the button to release the latches works great. Insert the SD card and start the machine. This is my first look at the SmartLink software. It installs easily (I'm using it inside a WindowsXP virtual machine running on a linux host... ) It works wonderfully and is a real snap to install on any windows machine. A friend ordered the same entire package as me (Intellipap, humidifier, Smartlink) and I installed his software on his Vista laptop. Everything just works. It's very easy to read the reports and the software is nicely designed and intuitive to use. I'm very happy with this."
