Product Features

The Total Face Mask is a unique alternative for patients in the hospital or home who have difficulty tolerating nasal masks used with BiPAP or CPAP systems. Provides a fast, effective seal and eliminates pressure sores caused by some nasal masks. Air pressure from the system inflates the soft, flexible sealing layer, which minimizes leaks while providing optimal airflow through the nasal passages. Air pressure circulates throughout the mask, allowing more natural, comfortable breathing. The clear, lightweight plastic faceplate adds to the comfort and does not obstruct vision to help minimize claustrophobia in some patients. Comes in one size with an easy-to-use headgear that quickly fits most patients, which is an important advantage in critical care situations.

Face farts

"It's comfortable and NOT claustrophobic but it takes me a long time to get it fitted without leaks at an 18 setting. It whistles and farts something terrible. Once I get it set properly, if I change positions, it starts leaking again. It wakes me up! A CPAP is supposed to help one sleep, not interrupt sleep. I still like it, with reservations. The product needs some work or maybe several sizes."

Probably, the air-pressure function is quite good, if you can tollerate the rigid mask. After 3 nights, I reverted to an old nasal mask, and will soon acquire a new one of those. I think the idea of a total face mask is good, but again, it's not for me."

"Totally useless. Blows air into the eyes when used as designed. Manufacturer's literature says to contact an eye doctor if you develop dry eyes or eye problems, so the manufacturer knows the mask is not useable."

"I was desperate for a new mask. I bought it. A lot of money. Could not even bring myself to wear it for a night. Terrible fit. Leaks were huge no matter what I tried. My wife laughed out loud because the large seal around the face created large leaks that sounded like farting. The only way it would not leak and make noise was to put it on so tight, it hurt my head. I mean hurt! I cannot wear it. The concept of this mask is amazing but it is amazing how it does not work. I am so disappointed."

How often should I replace my mask?

Medicare allows for mask cushion replacement every three (3) months and complete mask system replacement every six (6) months. CPAP manufacturers and vendors suggest these replacement schedules as well.

In our experience, most mask cushions begin to deteriorate after about six months of use. The silicone eventually becomes too soft to hold a seal and headgear straps must be tightened more and more to get the same quality seal.

We strongly suggest replacing cushions and pillows as soon as they start to soften. Air leaks may reduce the effectiveness of CPAP therapy and headgear that is too tight may cause facial sores at pressure points. You can also replace the headgear of your mask if it is stretched out or the Velcro worn out.

How do I care for my mask?

Masks should be washed daily in warm water with baby shampoo and left to air dry. Never use antibacterial soap as it will break down the silicone of the mask. Avoid soaps with lotion or lanolin which can coat the mask and cause it to lose its seal. A safe cleaner is the Control III Disinfectant CPAP Cleaning Solution. Remember to go to bed with a clean face, this will improve your seal and protect the lifespan of your mask.
The best time to clean your mask is in the morning so that the oils from your skin are removed. We recommend using mask wipes to make daily morning cleanings easy. The mask wipes are made from materials that will not break down your mask.

Why might I need a total face mask?

There are special circumstances or needs for this mask, like patients who leak air out of the corner of their eyes or have a facial condition preventing the use of a nasal or full face mask. This mask is like a Full Face mask in that it equalizes pressures for an even treatment, but this mask encompasses every opening on the face where air might escape like the eyes.
