"I have ordered these periodically. They last me about 2-3 months each before they start to a smell of their own. It seems the external covering develops cracks over time allowing humidity to enter and the overall foam insert to expand in size and develop a musty odor. The new ones always seem smaller than the old one being replaced, but they fit perfectly. This seems to just be a routine wear-out item. The silicon cover, on the other hand, seems to last forever."
