A yes in this field indicates the machine and humidifier have technology to reduce rainout, the water that collects in a hose when using a heated humidifier. Sensors measure the air temperature in the room and adjust the amount of heat and moisture delivered to the mask to reduce or omit rainout.

This indicates that the machine has an integrated heated hose option to enhance humidification and reduce rainout. An integrated headed hose receives power directly from the machine and does not require a power supply. The tube's heat settings are set through the machine menu screen.

This property defines whether the machine automatically adjusts pressure to meet the needs of the CPAP user on a breath-by-breath basis. A CPAP (Constant Positive Air Pressure) delivers continuous airflow at a prescribed pressure at 4cm to 30cm. APAP operates between a range and BiPAP machines are a mix of ranges and constant pressures. This pressure is measured in centimeters of water pressure (H2O) and 4-20cm is average pressure range on most CPAP machines.

|EPAP Pressure Range|
This Property lists the operating range for the Exhalation Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP). This is the pressure setting used when you exhale. EPAP is always lower than the IPAP (inhalation) pressure, making breathing out easier and more comfortable.
Pressure Relief is a feature that lowers your therapy pressure to help with difficulties breathing against the machine's airflow, providing a more comfortable and natural breathing pattern. Assistance can occur on the Exhalation, on the Inhalation, and on both exhalation and inhalation at the same time.
The Ramp feature allows the user to start treatment at a lower pressure to fall asleep with, gradually raising the pressure over a set time. This is a comfort setting and can set from 0 to 45 minutes on most CPAP machines.
This property defines whether the machine is capable of continuously blowing a constant pressure. All CPAP machines are defined as 'continuous', but some BiPAP's and APAP's also come with a CPAP mode; some BiPAP and BiLevel machines Do NOT. By setting the IPAP and EPAP to the same pressure, a CPAP Mode is achieved, preventing the EPAP pressure from dropping.
Leak Compensation is a machine feature that identifies mask leaks and adjusts to maintain the delivered pressure as set. If marked N/A assume the information is not available due to being out of production or unavailable.

An integrated battery pack attaches to and functions seamlessly with the machine it is integrated with. It allows your CPAP to run on AC and fail over to the DC battery only if necessary.
Identifies which machines are data capable and have the ability to track your therapy progress over time. The machine captures key metrics like AHI (Apnea/Hypopnea Index), Leakage, and most pressure used. Depending on the machine, the data can be retrieved through an on Machine Screen Display (MSD), through Optional Software (OS), and/or through SmartCode (SC).
This property marks the machines that have the ability to record performance data on a removable card. Some machines that are flagged as having software (seeOptional Software), do not have removable memory cards, rather instead, records information on-board and must use a download cable to retrieve the data from the machine.
Software is an option on some CPAP machines. The software can give details on compliance and performance. The patient or physician downloads the data from the CPAP machine to determine how long a patient has used their machine each night and how well the machine is working to stop Apnea/Hypopnea events. This property shows the software package to use for machine that has the ability to transfer data to your computer and report Hours of Usage. |Auto Altitude Adjustment|
Altitude Adjustment is defined as the machine's ability to compensate for changes in altitude. Compensation can either occur manually or automatically. Manual adjustments occur within the Setup Menu and must be set by the user. Automatic requires no user intervention.
This feature turns the machines off and on when putting on or taking off the mask. When you put your mask on the machines senses you breathing and turns itself on. Take off the mask and the machine turns off.
|Mask Off Alert|
This feature detects excessive mask leaks due to poor cushion seal or when a user stops therapy by removing a mask when in use. The alert can be in the form of an audible alarm (ALARM) or a text message on the unit's LCD display (LCD).
Spontaneous (S) mode tells the machine to start blowing at IPAP pressure with no specific interval set. The machine must wait and detect a break in the breathing cycle before reacting, switching from exhalation to inhalation. If a backup rate is needed, then the unit will need a time interval setting and will be marked 'Yes' on the Timed property.
Timed (T) or Spontaneous Timed (ST) modes provide a customizable backup rate that forces the machine to switch from exhalation to inhalation. In ST Mode, the machine monitors the breathing cycle and switches from EPAP to IPAP once the backup time is met or whenever the break is detected through the sensors; whichever occurs first. The time aspect is only meant to act as a backup respiratory rate to the (S) function (see Spontaneous). This is used for patients with central sleep apnea, or those who need non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

"The AEIOmed CPAP machine works fine. That's what's most important. The price is very competitive as well.
However, the manufacturer misleads you on weight. There is a huge transformer outside the unit you have to use. Other units that have the transformer built in may appear heaver but aren't when you include the transformer you have to lug around.
Putting weight outside the unit and leaving the unit very light has a real disadvantage. The light machine slides around too easily, often falling off the nightstand when I make the slightest move. Better to have put the transformer in the unit."
"I need a basic, quiet CPAP that travels well. The AEIO Everest 3 is functional but not impressive.
I bought this machine as a replacement for the now-obsolete Puritan-Bennett GoodKnight 420G. After three years of service, the cord around the strain relief on the AC adapter had frayed, but the CPAP itself still worked. Due to its age, I decided to replace the machine, rather than fix the problem with the AC adapter. I was hoping for an overall improvement with a new machine, similar to the improvement I saw the last time I replaced a CPAP in 2006, but it was not to be.
The low noise specification of the Everest 3 caught my eye, but in a side by side comparison with my old CPAP, the GookKnight 420G, the Everest 3 sounds subjectively noisier to me. It may have an overall lower noise level when measured scientifically, but there are resonances in the Everest 3 that take some getting used to.
I was in a hurry to get the new machine, too, and CPAP.com came through with next day Saturday delivery, for which I'm grateful. The very next day after receiving my new machine, I had to travel by air on business.
At the airport, I discovered that the shape of the Everest machine makes it somewhat awkward to pull out for security screening. Yes, it's roughly the same size and weight as the old machine, but its shape requires me to handle it with both hands, rather than grasping it quickly with one hand to pull out of my carry-on, as was possible with the GoodKnight.
The Everest 3 meets all my requirements, it's relatively quiet and relatively portable. It helps me get a good night's sleep, which is the main objective. But it's a bit of a step back from the GoodKnight 420G, and I'll miss my old machine. I'm sure I'll eventually get used to the new one."

The only care a CPAP or BiPAP machine requires is to clean or change the filters at the air intake. This keeps the internal parts from accumulating dust. Fine paper filters should be changed out every 30 days, or when they appear soiled. Foam washable filters should be rinsed with clear running water once a week, allowed to air dry, and reinserted.

CPAP therapy provides a constant airflow which holds the airway open so that uninterrupted breathing is maintained during sleep. It is traditionally provided through a nasal mask that seals around the nose to maintain the pressure level.
Yes, all CPAPs use at least one filter that is usually a type of foam material and washable. Some CPAPs offer finer filtration with the addition of a disposable paper filter.
Cleaning and changing filters is the only maintenance required for a CPAP machine.

The ramp button on a machine is a feature that allows for a gradual pressure build-up to your prescribed pressure. The feature is enjoyed by those with high pressures because they ease up to their pressure.
Exhalation relief is a comfort feature offered by two manufactures which reduces the air flow at the time of exhalation making the breathing process more natural.

First you need to determine if your machine is configured to operate on DC power and has a DC power outlet. If your machine does have a DC power outlet and you want to run your marine battery, then you will need the correct DC cable for your machine and an adapter cable that fits over the cigarette lighter plug and ends in alligator clips.

An adapter may be required to plug a US power cord into a wall outlet in a foreign country. CPAP.com sells an assortment pack of World Traveler Power Adapter Plugs, which allow CPAP machines to plug into different types of wall sockets found in different countries.

Your CPAP does NOT count against your carry on limits. Allow for an additional 10-20 minutes in security, not likely but it happens. If airport personnel ask about the CPAP, let them know politely that it is a medical device (a CPAP unit). Most of them understand what it is and that it is an exception to the normal rules. All CPAPs will operate on DC power with the use of an inverter to change the current from DC to AC before it reaches the machine. However, many will operate on DC power without the need for an inverter, just a power cord that plugs into the CPAP and ends in a cigarette lighter plug.
Inverters do require a lot of power. If you need to use an inverter to run your machine on battery power, the inverter will probably take about half the life off the battery.
To determine if your CPAP will operate without an inverter, look for a DC outlet on the machine, either at the back or on the side, with a single opening directly in the center. It should be labeled "DC Power" or similar term. You can also review our Compare Charts to see if your machine has a optional DC cable option.

For longer battery use, we suggest a deep-cycle marine battery. A CPAP set at 10cm will usually run for about three nights before having to recharge a deep cycle marine battery. A car battery will usually run a machine for 8 hours and still start the car.
There are small, portable battery packs that will operate a CPAP set at 10cm for at least one night, or about eight hours.
