Learn More About Your New Mask

Broad Silicone Forehead Pad. Ever had a dent in your forehead? The ComfortGel forehead pad is larger than the Profile Lite to diffuse any pressure out over a larger area for more comfort.

Adjustable Bridge Fit. Ever had a sore nose bridge? The ComfortGel can be adjusted outward at the bridge of the nose to help reduce pressure.

Customizable Gel Cushion. The gel-filled cushion conforms around the nose and uses the SST flap to create a consistent seal all night. The gel technology allows for a greater variety in facial features such as facial hair. As an added benefit, the ComfortGel cushion can be boiled and molded for a custom fit. The boiling process softens the cushion and allows the gel to form around your unique face. For more information on the boiling process, click on the Customizing the ComfortGel Cushion Instructions.

Silicone Cushion Flap. Does your mask get worn and "mushy" too quickly? Use the separate silicone membrane that snaps on over the gel cushion to increase the life of the cushion. The unique Sure Seal Technology (SST) contours and seals around the ComfortGel cushion.

Ball-and-Socket Quick Clips. How many times do you have to get out of bed at night? The clips allow easy removal and replacement of the mask without re-adjusting the straps.

Latex Free. Just like all Respironics masks and headgear.

The Comfort Gel mask is no longer manufactured with the Deluxe Headgear. Respironics has upgraded the headgear to the Premium Headgear with EZ Peel Tabs.

System One Resistance Control

Resistance Control is a numbering system on all new Respironics CPAP masks and based on variable resistance characteristics. Each number instructs the device to compensate for different mask types. The result is a consistent and reliable pressure, enhanced with all the benefits of Flex Technology, no matter which mask is used.

You can find the Resistance Control number next to the size indicator on the SST FLap. The size of the frame, cushion, or flap is printed or embossed on each individual part. An example of the size indicator is a printed "L" meaning the replacement part is a size "Large." Use the number next to the Size for use with yout PR System One CPAP Machine.

Help with Sizing

For help with deciding your size, download and print and cutout the ComfortGel Printable Sizing Gauge for this mask. For help with changing out the ComfortGel cushions or fitting directions, please review: ComfortGel Mask Instructions.

Where do I find the size?

The ComfortGel frame is available in three different sizes. Each frame is labeled with a letter and a part number, designating the mask size. To find the letter on the mask frame, locate the elbow of the mask. Just below the elbow, the user will see a clear letter embossed into the mask frame, indicating the size. The larger black numbers listed below the embossed letter represent the part number, which directly corresponds to the product's size.

The size of the gel cushion and the SST flap is located on the bottom of the gel cushion, where the mask frame and nasal cushion connect. If the mask is a size small, medium, or large, the letter indicating the size of the mask will be black. If the cushion is petite, a blue letter will indicated the size of the cushion.

If the user removes the gel cushion from the SST flap, the size will not be identifiable. The size of the gel cushion is not recorded, yet it directly corresponds to the size written on the silicone flap.

Replacing Mask Frames and Cushion with SST Flap

ComfortGel and ComfortGel Blue mask frames and cushions are interchangeable, but the cushion and frame must be the same size. ComfortGel Blue Cushion for ComfortGel Nasal CPAP Masks will work with either mask.

  • Large frame = Large cushion and flap
  • Small/Medium frame = Medium cushion and flap
  • Small/Medium frame = Small cushion and flap
  • Petite frame = Petite cushion and flap

The same size silicone flap must be used to secure the gel cushion to the frame.

Where do I find the size?

The ComfortGel frame comes in three different sizes (see Replacing Mask Frames above) and is labeled with a letter and a part number, both designate mask size. When examining the front of the mask, the size is located on the left side of the frame and the part number is printed below the mask elbow. The ComfortGel cushion size is printed on the bottom, underneath the cushion body. The ComfortGel cushion flap is also labeled and the size and Resistance Control number is printed on the base side of the flap.

Are the ComfortGel nasal cushion sizes interchangeable on the mask frame?
ComfortGel and ComfortGel Blue mask frames and cushions are interchangeable, but the cushion and frame must be the same size. ComfortGel Blue Cushion for ComfortGel Nasal CPAP Masks will work with either mask.
  • Large frame = Large cushion and flap
  • Small/Medium frame = Medium cushion and flap
  • Small/Medium frame = Small cushion and flap
  • Petite frame = Petite cushion and flap

The same size silicone flap must be used to secure the gel cushion to the frame.
Does this mask contain any latex?
There is no Latex in any Respironics mask or their packaging.
Do you have a guide to help me choose the right mask?
Yes, we created a Help Me Choose guide to help you select the right mask or machine according to your preferences. The guide asks you a series of questions regarding your preferences and your facial features. Based on your answers we provide you with a comparison chart of the masks that meet your criteria. Get started here:

Help Me Choose - Mask
Which CPAP masks work on which machines?

Any mask will work with any machine, with one important exception. The ResMed AirMini is only compatible with certain ResMed CPAP masks. Compatible masks for the AirMini are as follows:

  • ResMed AirFit™ N20 Nasal Mask
  • ResMed AirFit™ F20 Full Face
  • ResMed AirTouch™ F20 Full Face
  • ResMed AirFit™ P10 Nasal Pillow

When considering another CPAP, APAP or BiPAP machine from ResMed or any other manufacturer, mask compatibility extends to all brands. The AirMini uses non-standard tubing to connect the machine to the mask, and is the primary reason why other masks won't work with the AirMini. Despite this issue, many of our customers consider the AirMini to be an excellent machine.

How often should I replace my mask?
Medicare allows for mask cushion replacement every three (3) months, and a complete mask system replacement every six (6) months. CPAP manufacturers and vendors suggest these replacement schedules as well.

In our experience, most mask cushions begin to deteriorate after about six months of use. The cushion eventually becomes too soft to hold a seal. The headgear straps lose elasticity and must be tightened more and more to get the same quality seal.

We strongly suggest replacing cushions and pillows as soon as they start to soften. Air leaks may reduce the effectiveness of CPAP therapy and headgear that is too tight may cause facial sores at pressure points. In most cases, replacement headgear is available if it is stretched out or the Velcro worn out.

To see what parts of your mask are replaceable refer to our Replacement Part Finder. Just search for your mask to see all of the replaceable parts.
Why might I prefer a nasal mask?
The ideal CPAP mask is not noticeable to the user during CPAP therapy. If you breathe through your nose only, the nasal mask may offer the best therapy. Nasal cushions create a very good seal around your nose, while keeping a small profile. Also, nasal masks can be found in silicone, gel, foam, or cloth material. The SleepWeaver masks are the only cloth masks on the market, and are a very popular choice among nasal mask users. Lastly, most nasal masks have a forehead support which offers stability and support for the mask.

How do I care for my mask?

Masks should be washed daily with warm water and gentle soap or baby shampoo. Let the mask air dry. Never use antibacterial soap as it will break down the silicone of the mask cushion. Avoid soaps that include lotion which can coat the mask and cause it to lose its seal. A safe cleaner is the Control III Disinfectant CPAP Cleaning Solution. Remember, going to bed with a clean face will improve your seal and protect the lifespan of your mask. Citrus Mask Wipes

The best time to clean your mask is in the morning after use. This removes the oils left behind from your skin which can reduce the lifespan of your mask. We recommend using Mask Wipes to make daily morning cleaning easy. The mask wipes are made from materials that will not break down your mask.

Citrus Mask Wipes

For customers who want to completely disinfect their mask and accessories, there's an even better option than wipes. The Lumin Mask and Accessories Cleaner uses powerful UV light to disinfect, killing almost all bacteria almost instantly. It's not a cleaner and doesn't scrub or wash anything, but for simple disinfecting the Lumin works great!

Size

Verified purchase | Feb. 19, 2018 | Verified CPAP.com Customer
I spoke with a representative about specifically needing smaller headgear. We went through several different mask looking for one that would work. We settled on two different ones. One being the comfort gel in petite. I was told that the headgear would be smaller. When it arrived it was the same size as the regular. I have to tighten the mask and roll up straps in order to make it work. They may want to work on this. Maybe more training and they specific section for smaller sizes. I combined the two that I received and they kind of work. Kind of!

Yay! It fits perfectly! Have tried a few different types and brands, but none felt comfortable, until now. No more air seeping out and waking me up during the night. Will recommend and purchase again.
