The Sandman Intro CPAP machine is designed to treat a broad range of CPAP users. Covidien's goal was to make sleep apnea treatment easy. The device is quiet, discreet and user-friendly. Small and light, traveling with the Sandman is convenient. Use either AC or DC power from an external battery source. If altitude is an issue, the Auto Altitude Compensation feature accounts for barometric changes.
Covidien also addresses the need for humidity, incorporating a built-in heated humidifier, together weighing only 2.75 pounds. The humidifier is located to the rear of the CPAP with a water chamber that is easy to clean. Using a new technology, “HumidControl”, the humidifier provides the best temperature according to the relative humidity outside the water chamber. This prevents water from collecting in the CPAP hose and keeps the humidification level constant throughout the night.

Sandman Intro CPAP Machine with humidifier
August 01, 2008

"I just returned from a 10-day trip using this new machine, and was very pleased. It is very lightweight and compact, even with the humidifier; I had been traveling with my Remstar Plus, which I will now use at home and use the Sandman for travel. The Sandman is exceptionally quiet at the beginning level of air pressure, quieter than the Remstar plus, though louder when optimum pressure is reached.
I found it more complex to operate than the Remstar, and it turns off and on very abruptly compared to the Remstar. I am still learning to operate the ramping feature.
I would strongly recommend this machine for travel and think it would also work well for everyday use."

"I am a new user, so I do not have any comparison to other machines nor long term info on this one.
The setting on arrival was 8cm but my prescription was for 20cm. I was able to correct it thru the Therapy Menu with the provided Therapy Manual.
The humidifier is easy to remove but it does not fit back tightly and will leak and is noisy unless I take extra effort to firmly press the left side back into place and make sure that there is no hose tension to the right (toward my bed) the weight of the hose is enough to pull it away.
The cover for the humidifier bowl is the opposite. It is too tight. The two press release hooks need three hands to hold the plastic top attached to the hose, the bowl with water in it, and the two catches which are very stiff."
Small but noisy.

"I bought this machine for travel. Since the humidifier is part of the unit and there is no external power supply, just an AC cord, the unit is very small and compact. I love it for that. My only complaint is the noise. My normal machine is a RemstarPRO M-Series and the Sandman is definitely noiser than the Remstar. I've ended up using ear plugs with the Sandman."
Exactly what it looks like...

"...a great travel CPAP. Nice integrated humidifier and small size. I'm going to use this tent camping so I'm very excited about how compact it is. Humidifier snaps on solidly and has 10 different levels. Ramp is fully adjustable (other reviewer may need to unlock theirs). My primary WAS a Remstar auto, but I was told I run 12cm almost constantly and this is so nice it might displace that unit. It's a bit noisier, but not enough to bother my wife or me. Humidifier is a must. If you don't put water in it, the noise level goes way up and it can't be left off. You at least have to put some water in and use it as a pass-over or live with the noise. Probably not a problem for most.
I'd definitely buy this one again and recommend for anyone who RV-s or camps."

"A very small footprint considering it includes the humidifier.
Machine is much quieter than my Resmed S7, I bought the Sandman as a traveller but I think with it's ease of use, small size that it will become my primary machine.
Operation of machine is easy, I think my wife loves it more than me, it doesn't keep her awake."
