1. If you are using the disposable white filters, insert it into the filter area first, mesh-side facing in, towards the device.

"The filter material appears to be top quality. The filters lack the fabric backing found on the original filters that come with the machine, but they seem to be just as sturdy. They are precision cut to fit right into the filter holder and will do the job well regardles of the fabric. I have no problem using this filter, and the price is right."
