FlexiFit HC405 Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear

The HC405 mask is the upgrade to the Aclaim 2. It features the same "Fit and Forget" technology that combines a unique foam cushion shape and headgear design for a comfortable, stable fit. The major difference between the Aclaim 2 and the HC405 is the hose connection which now swivels instead of being fixed upward and over the head.

    Product Features

Out of Box Solution. All Fisher & Paykel masks come fully assembled and ready to wear so there is no fumbling or confusion.

FlexiFit Cushion. The unique inner foam cushion provides a secure seal. Two sizes are included now instead of just one, to mold to a variety of nose and bridge shapes.

Glider Strap Anti-Leak System. This strap is used to connect the headgear to the mask frame for stability, but it slides across the frame when the head is turned so that the pressure of the seal stays uniform regardless of sleep position.

Front Swivel Hose Connection. The HC405 has a swivel hose connection instead of the fixed one of the Aclaim 2 so that the hose may be positioned in any direction for ease of movement during sleep.

Bias Diffuser. The HC405 exhalation vent has be redesigned and placed on the elbow of the swivel to help keep it from blowing onto a bedmate. It also uses a filter to help reduce noise.

Four Strap Headgear. The top headgear strap has been removed for a simpler, more open design. The headgear of the HC405 is latex free, as are all other headgear by Fisher & Paykel.

    Help with Sizing

For help with selecting your size, please review the FlexiFit HC405 Fitting Guide.

For help with fitting directions, please review: HC405 Mask User Manual.

Where do I find the size?

The FlexiFit HC405 Nasal CPAP Mask is a mask frame that comes with two nasal cushion sizes: small and large. The bottom of the mask frame is labeled with the mask name: HC405, representing the necessary mask frame needed if the user wears a size small or size large. When examining the front of the mask frame, the name is printed below the glider strap.

The FlexiFit HC405 cushion is replaceable, and it has an identifiable mark. To find the size of the nasal cushion, locate the flat bottom of the mask. Embossed in silicone, the user will see the word small or large. Depending on the word recorded on the bottom of the nasal cushion, the replacement cushion will need to correspond directly. The HC405 cushions can be viewed here: Flexi Foam Cushion Insert and Silicone Seal Kit for Aclaim 2 and HC405 Nasal CPAP Mask.

Which CPAP masks work on which machines?
All CPAP masks work with all CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP machines.
Do you have a guide to help me choose the right mask?
Yes, we created a Help Me Choose guide to help you select the right mask or machine according to your preferences. The guide asks you a series of questions regarding your preferences and your facial features. Based on your answers we provide you with a comparison chart of the masks that meet your criteria. How often should I replace my mask?
Medicare allows for mask cushion replacement every three (3) months, and a complete mask system replacement every six (6) months. CPAP manufacturers and vendors suggest these replacement schedules as well.

In our experience, most mask cushions begin to deteriorate after about six months of use. The cushion eventually becomes too soft to hold a seal. The headgear straps lose elasticity and must be tightened more and more to get the same quality seal.

We strongly suggest replacing cushions and pillows as soon as they start to soften. Air leaks may reduce the effectiveness of CPAP therapy and headgear that is too tight may cause facial sores at pressure points. In most cases, replacement headgear is available if it is stretched out or the Velcro worn out.

To see what parts of your mask are replaceable refer to our Replacement Part Finder. Just search for your mask to see all of the replaceable parts.
What does a mask prescription need to say?
A mask prescription must contain all of the following information:
    • One of the following words or phrases: "CPAP Mask", "CPAP Supplies", "CPAP Humidifier", "CPAP", "Continuous Positive Airway Pressure", "APAP", "AutoPAP", "AutoSet", "Auto CPAP", "Auto Adjusting CPAP", "Self Adjusting CPAP", "BiPAP", "BiLevel", "VPAP", "BiPAP Auto", "BiPAP ST", "Synchrony ST", "VPAP ST"
    • Your physician's contact information

Why might I prefer a nasal mask?
The ideal CPAP mask is not noticeable to the user during CPAP therapy. If you breathe through your nose only, the nasal mask may offer the best therapy. Nasal cushions create a very good seal around your nose, while keeping a small profile. Also, nasal masks can be found in silicone, gel, foam, or cloth material. The SleepWeaver masks are the only cloth masks on the market, and are a very popular choice among nasal mask users. Lastly, most nasal masks have a forehead support which offers stability and support for the mask.

    Mirage SoftGel Nasal CPAP Mask
What are the CPAP, BiPAP and Sleep Apnea related HCPCS, CPT or billing codes?

E1399 is Miscellaneous and is used for other CPAP items.
How do I care for my mask?
Masks should be washed daily with warm water and gentle soap or baby shampoo. Let the mask air dry. Never use antibacterial soap as it will break down the silicone of the mask cushion. Avoid soaps that include lotion which can coat the mask and cause it to lose its seal. A safe cleaner is the Control III Disinfectant CPAP Cleaning Solution. Remember, going to bed with a clean face will improve your seal and protect the lifespan of your mask. Citrus Mask Wipes
The best time to clean your mask is in the morning after use. This removes the oils left behind from your skin which can reduce the lifespan of your mask. We recommend using Mask Wipes to make daily morning cleaning easy. The mask wipes are made from materials that will not break down your mask.
