Learn More About Your New Mask

Oracle CPAP Mask Features and Benefits:

  • Improved Design for More Comfortable Fit
  • Rotating Adjustment Dial
  • Single-Strap Easy-Release Headgear
  • Sound-Reducing Filter
  • Clear Line of Sight

The Oracle Mask is Ideal For:

  • Light Sleepers
  • If You Breathe Through Your Mouth
  • If You Are Claustrophobic
  • If You Wear Glasses
  • If You Watch T.V. or Read Before Bed
  • If You Experience a Chronic Nasal Obstruction

Improved Design Offers More Comfortable Fit

To wear the Oracle HC452, place the SoftSeal mouthpiece behind your lips and in front of your teeth. An outside flap fits to your mouthpiece and folds over your lips to provide a secure and stable fit while the included nasal plugs shut off the nostrils for greater effectiveness. The previous design rested directly on your tongue, so many CPAP wearers find the switch more comfortable.

Rotating Adjustment Dial Provides Better Stability

New to the Paykel Healthcare Oracle line, a rotating adjustment dial on the Oracle Mask allows you to change the space between the SnapFlap Cover and the SoftSeal mouthpiece for enhanced comfort and stability.

Freedom to Move With the Single-Strap Easy-Release Headgear

A strap around the back of your head and a swivel in the front of the Oracle HC452 offer stability and the freedom to change sleep positions during CPAP therapy. Enjoy set-it-and-forget-it single strap headgear, making ongoing adjustments a thing of the past. To remove your headgear-without impacting your fit-simply pull the Easy Release cord to disconnect from your CPAP machine at a moment's notice.

Say Goodnight to Excess Noise With the Sound-Reducing Filter

Equipped with five filters, the Oracle oral mask uses an exhalation vent on the silicone seal mouthpiece with a series of small holes and a filter to help reduce noise.

Cleaning Tips

Here’s how to clean your Oracle 452 Oral Mask:

  1. Separate the mask cushion from the frame and disconnect the headgear.
  2. Wash both items in a mixture of mild soap and water.
  3. If you’re having trouble reaching some of the crevices in the cushion, you can use a soft bristle brush (like a toothbrush).
  4. When you’re finished, rinse with clean drinking water, and set it aside to air dry. Don’t place in direct sunlight.

Where do I find the size?

The mask frame does not have an identifiable size because it offers a universal fit to the small and large Oracle HC452 SoftSeal cushions.

To find the size of the SoftSeal cushion, remove the cushion from the mask frame. Hold the two silicone flaps, so the top of the two small openings is facing the user. With the small openings facing inward, the correct direction can be determined by the words "S M A L L" and "L A R G E." If either of these words appear embossed into the silicone above the small openings, then the user has located the size of the cushion. If the words are not visible, turn the cushion 180 degrees to view the other side.

How do I care for my mask?

Masks should be washed daily with warm water and gentle soap or baby shampoo. Let the mask air dry. Never use antibacterial soap as it will break down the silicone of the mask cushion. Avoid soaps that include lotion which can coat the mask and cause it to lose its seal. A safe cleaner is the Control III Disinfectant CPAP Cleaning Solution. Remember, going to bed with a clean face will improve your seal and protect the lifespan of your mask. Citrus Mask Wipes

The best time to clean your mask is in the morning after use. This removes the oils left behind from your skin which can reduce the lifespan of your mask. We recommend using Mask Wipes to make daily morning cleaning easy. The mask wipes are made from materials that will not break down your mask.

Citrus Mask Wipes

For customers who want to completely disinfect their mask and accessories, there's an even better option than wipes. The Lumin Mask and Accessories Cleaner uses powerful UV light to disinfect, killing almost all bacteria almost instantly. It's not a cleaner and doesn't scrub or wash anything, but for simple disinfecting the Lumin works great!

How often should I replace my mask?
Medicare allows for mask cushion replacement every three (3) months, and a complete mask system replacement every six (6) months. CPAP manufacturers and vendors suggest these replacement schedules as well.

In our experience, most mask cushions begin to deteriorate after about six months of use. The cushion eventually becomes too soft to hold a seal. The headgear straps lose elasticity and must be tightened more and more to get the same quality seal.

We strongly suggest replacing cushions and pillows as soon as they start to soften. Air leaks may reduce the effectiveness of CPAP therapy and headgear that is too tight may cause facial sores at pressure points. In most cases, replacement headgear is available if it is stretched out or the Velcro worn out.

To see what parts of your mask are replaceable refer to our Replacement Part Finder. Just search for your mask to see all of the replaceable parts.
I breathe through my mouth, what are my options?
People who have a deviated septum, small nostrils, or who suffer from seasonal allergies or chronic sinus issues, may breathe through the mouth rather than the nose. If you are a person who breathes through your mouth you may be able to wear most masks with a few adaptations. Add a Chinstrap if using nasal pillows, nasal prongs or a nasal mask.
Sullivan Chinstrap

A full face mask or hybrid mask can be used without a chinstrap because the seal covers both the nose and mouth. A full face mask will allow you to breathe through your mouth or through your nose.

If you suffer from chronic sinus issues, a full face mask or an oral face mask are good options. Oral masks work best for mouth breathers with blocked nasal passages. You must use a heated humidifier with the oral mask. CPAP.com sells the Oracle HC452 Oral CPAP mask.

If you are a mouth breather who cannot or who does not want to wear a chinstrap, please see our recommended masks for Mouth Breathers.

Chinstraps

How Do I Size the Oracle HC542?

The Oracle HC542 comes with both large and small mouthpiece sizes and does not have sizing instructions. Try each mouthpiece to determine which size works best for you.

What's the difference between Oracle and other Full Face Masks?

The Oracle HC542 is a one-of-a-kind CPAP mask that delivers air only to the mouth via a plastic mouthpiece. It doesn't use a cushion like a traditional mask would and includes nasal plugs to reduce air leakage and increase therapy effectiveness.

Is this mask compatible with any machine?

Yes. The Oracle HC542 uses standard tubing with a standard connection and can be used with any CPAP machine and with the ResMed AirMini using the Zephair AirMini Universal Adapter.

Any helpful accessories for the Oracle HC542?

This oral CPAP mask includes nasal plugs to stop air from leaking out of your nose. Aside from the nasal plugs, the mask should work perfectly fine without additional accesories, but padded mask straps may make the headgear more comfortable.

Good at first

Verified purchase | Mar. 19, 2024 | Patrick O.
I'm a mouth breather. I had high hopes for this mask. The product worked great for the first few nights. Then the the 2 pieces of the mask (the piece behind the teeth and the part in front of the mouth) wouldn't stay together, even while inserting in my mouth.

Perfectly suited for mouth breathers

Couldn't keep the two parts together

This is the first mask I've been able to wear due to claustrophobia and congestion. I'm glad someone came up with it. The only downside is that it twists slightly in the mouth as I sleep and puts pressure on various teeth.

Not for most people, but maybe good for mouth breathers

Verified purchase | Aug. 20, 2022 | Verified CPAP.com Customer
Tried this to get away from pressure in the nose from pillow only masks causing me sinus infections. I just could not take having it in my mouth. I suppose if you are already a mouth breather it may work well, but I'm finding the smaller full masks with nose cushions a better option for my needs. I was able to quickly learn to not let air out my nose with this mask, so I can see how it might work for some people.

Nice but...

Verified purchase | Apr. 05, 2022 | Verified CPAP.com Customer
The hose forces you to have an insert in your mouth all night. Would be five stars if that was made clear on the site. I like the fit of the mask, very comfortable but having the product inserted all night makes it hard to swallow during the night and that wakes me from my sleep.

Best Mask for Me

Verified purchase | Nov. 10, 2020 | Verified CPAP.com Customer
This is an excellent mask for those who can not breathe through their nose. It does not leak when fitted appropriately even if you toss and turn at night. It's very easy to put on/take off. There is little pressure against the teeth. I find the neckband useful as my pressure level is quite high, but some do not use it at all. Anything in the mouth will cause extra salivation at night, which normally self-adjusts after a week or two. It's easy to cut re-usable cotton liners (basically an oval with a slit in the middle), which can be useful for any excess saliva and to prevent morning facial mask impressions. Also, this mask is a breeze to clean daily.
