"My old one was cracked and leaking. It's amazing how much this part helps to keep proper air pressure. Replace yours if it's discolored, cracked or has mineral deposits from water evaporation."
If you don't have one, get one

"I demonstrated this to my DME recently after I asked them for one and they professed no knowledge of what I was describing. They were astonished at how easily I could disconnect my hose from my CPAP humidifier output. That gave me the thought that all of their customers must not have one of these things at all. That's sad. Every CPAP hose I've ever used is a pain to get off of both the mask and the humidifier outlet, because (naturally) they are so tight-fitting. I don't know what moron decided that they needed to fit so tightly, but like the guy who invented neckties, if I ever find him, I'm going to strangle him with one. If you don't have one of these things, you need one, trust me. Just buy it. Buy a couple in case you accidentally step on your first one. Buy one for each hose you have. Then buy some spares. You'll be glad you did."

"Does it's job. Prevents wear and tear of the hose ends and prolongs the life of the hose."
