Liberty Mask

"Lets face it. If you breathe through your mouth you need a full face mask. The full masks that I have used before leave my nose looking as if I lost a boxing match. The Liberty mask with nasal pillows accomplishes what I need -high pressure CPAP settings and comfort.
Everyone is differnt, but my nose begged me to try something different - and it worked."

Not comfortable
October 28, 2009

"This mask is well made and seems like it will hold up for a while but it is not very comfortable. where the mask rest on you face it pushes in pretty hard even if you adjust the headgear till it almost falls off your face.
It pushes in right on your teeth and it hurts. I went back to the old Hybrid mask I was using before and will stay with it. So for me it was wasted money."

good idea, but...

"I tried the large version of this from my typical insurance re-imbursed provider, but did not have the ability to return it. I like the idea, but I couldn't find a pillow size or position which didn't put excessive upward pressure on the inside of my nose. Was only able to use it for 3 nights prior to giving up. Since I couldn't return, I went back to my previous full face mask.
I purchased the smaller size this time along with the insurance. The nasal fit is better, but still irritates the upper inside of my nose. The pillow seems to seal more by directly upward pressure than pressure inward on my nose. Of course, this is on my particular face. I am able to wear this size with much less discomfort, after 3 nights returned to my previous mask.
I will try it again, but am not sure I will keep this mask. I had a bit of trouble with the strap. Taking the mask on and off, the upper strap seems to come off much too easily. Because of the design to pull the maskup, it's harder to get this mask on/off by disconnecting just one strap on one side. I also found that the mouth area of the smaller size is a bit too small for me, while the nasal fit is better.
I had hoped that the smaller footprint of the mask might make a dramatic comfort difference for me, but it is not clear that this is the case."

First one that has worked for me

"I am a new CPAP (actually, APAP) user and am funding my own medical equipment because my local DME vendor will only supply lower-end stuff due to their agreement with Aetna. I have now purchased no less than 6 full-face masks in the last month, and this one works the best for me. I was very close to giving up on this one due to leaks, but found that adjusting the straps a little tighter at the bottom and looser at the top changed the angle enough to make a good seal while maintaining an overall relatively loose and comfortable fit. When I wake up, I don't have any pain, very little discomfort, and it feels like my APAP isn't even on. I run anywhere from 7cm to 11cm. I've noticed the mask is quiet at the lower pressures and a bit noisy at the higher pressures."
