Not Good for Larger Guys

"The mask is nice and made of great materials...But I had trouble with the seal and the airflow out of the mask. Its designed with the out air flow blowing out the bottom of the mask and this created for me a cold air flow that I couldnt sleep with. I also found the mask very noisey compared to the nose pillow mask I used now. You also really have to strap this thing on to make the seal...Like I said for a smaller person mite be good but wasnt good for me at all..."

"Construction of the mask is cheap, contact with the face is poor, the mask leaks on various points. The intake air position is very uncomfortable. The ratio of costs versus quality is huge. Quality is very poor. I was not able to use the mask more that twenty minutes. I am very disappointed with this product. I cannot return the product. i am stuck with an expensive mask that dose not work. I do no have any positive remarks for this product. I hope my comments will help other users not to purchase this product."

"I can place the mask over my face and obtain a good seal. And I look forward to using it at some point in time.
The one thing that is common with just about all products is that they headgear is humongous. I am not quite sure who they have in mind when they designed the headgear. I wear a 7 1/4 – 7 1/2 hat size, which is not huge, but not tiny either. This leads me to believe that all designers have humongous heads :-)
Anyway, the mask itself has a single vent hole directing air downward, which is okay with me because I live in Florida and I do not mind the breeze. However, it is loud.
In So, what I have done is to take a strip of half inch fabric bandage tape and loosely place a cotton ball over the hole. Minor restriction of airflow without being dangerous. Much quieter.
This weekend I plan to dig through all of my CPAP masks and find headgear that will work. I really cannot criticize the headgear, because I have that problem with just about every mask I have ever tried. I have a drawer full of Velcro, fabric glue and fabric tape so that I can practice might weekend hobby of CPAP headgear crafting. Duct tape sticks to my hair :-)."

How often should I replace my mask?
Medicare allows for mask cushion replacement every three (3) months, and a complete mask system replacement every six (6) months. CPAP manufacturers and vendors suggest these replacement schedules as well.
In our experience, most mask cushions begin to deteriorate after about six months of use. The cushion eventually becomes too soft to hold a seal. The headgear straps lose elasticity and must be tightened more and more to get the same quality seal.
We strongly suggest replacing cushions and pillows as soon as they start to soften. Air leaks may reduce the effectiveness of CPAP therapy and headgear that is too tight may cause facial sores at pressure points. In most cases, replacement headgear is available if it is stretched out or the Velcro worn out.

How do I care for my mask?
Masks should be washed daily with warm water using a very gentle soap or baby shampoo, and left to air dry. Never use antibacterial soap as it will break down the silicone of the mask cushion. Avoid soaps that include lotion which can coat the mask and cause it to lose its seal. A safe cleaner is the Control III Disinfectant CPAP Cleaning Solution. Remember, going to bed with a clean face will improve your seal and protect the lifespan of your mask.
The best time to clean your mask is in the morning after use. This removes the oils left behind from your skin which can reduce the lifespan of your mask. We recommend using mask wipes to make daily morning cleaning easy. The mask wipes are made from materials that will not break down your mask.

Why might I prefer a nasal mask?
The ideal CPAP mask is the one you can't tell is on. Start with minimal masks. If you are strictly a nose breather, the nasal mask is a good choice. The nasal cushion creates a very good seal around your nose and has a small profile. Nasal masks are also offered in gel, which many find comfortable. The SleepWeaver Advance is the only cloth mask on the market and is a very popular choice among nasal mask users.
