A Complete Review of the Lumin UVC Household Sanitizer in 2024

Table of Contents

The Lumin CPAP cleaner from 3B Medical continues to be one of the best CPAP cleaning machines available. As you may already know, routinely cleaning your CPAP device is important for both your own health and the longevity of your CPAP equipment.

Unlike ozone-based cleaners, the Lumin uses a UV light to sanitize your mask, accessories, and CPAP water chamber to kill 99% of bacteria, pathogens, and fungi in just five minutes!

Today, we’re going to review the Lumin to help you decide if this is the right fit for your CPAP cleaning regimen. We’ll discuss the benefits, how (and when) to use it, as well as how it compares to other CPAP cleaning machines on the market such as SoClean.

Let’s hop into our complete review of the Lumin CPAP cleaner so you have everything you need to know about UV sanitization!

Lumin CPAP Cleaner Review Summary

The Lumin uses a powerful UV light contained inside a chamber to kill bacteria in just five minutes. The light is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and similar to the UV devices used to disinfect medical equipment in operating rooms and ambulances.

Here’s How the Lumin UV Cleaner System Works:

A specialized mercury-arc germicidal lamp inside the device emits a high-energy light within the UV-C spectrum. This light, according to manufacturer 3B, is “very close to the peak of the germicidal effectiveness curve of 265nm, the most lethal wave to microorganisms.”

What does this mean for you? Cleaner equipment without the mess or hassle—and no place for any bacteria to hide!

Benefits of the Lumin CPAP Mask Cleaner

Why consider adding a Lumin UV Mask Cleaner to your CPAP cleaning regimen? We took a look at customer feedback and found the following benefits:

  • Safely Cleans Equipment With a UV Light System
  • Quick, Five-Minute Cycle
  • Disinfects Non-CPAP Items
  • Easy-to-Use Design
  • No Replacement Parts Needed
  • Does Not Use Activated Oxygen or Ozone to Disinfect

Cleans what you can’t see. During the cold, flu, and allergy seasons, keeping your CPAP mask and water chambers clear of pathogens is especially important to reduce the risk of catching an infection.

Helps with rashes and skin breakouts. Keeping your mask clean and sanitary prevents bacteria from seeping into your pores and causing unpleasant skin conditions like rashes and acne breakouts.

Saves time. Five minutes is all a cycle requires to disinfect your CPAP mask and chamber with UV light. And the best part? You can use your equipment immediately afterward. Ozone-based cleaners often require 10 minutes or more to disinfect, and some require users to leave their masks in the chamber for a waiting period of up to two hours. The Lumin UV system does not require a waiting period—you can disinfect and use your mask right away!

Sanitizes non-CPAP items. You can use the Lumin to sanitize other small household or personal hygiene items, including eye masks, swim goggles, eyeglasses, toothbrushes, hearing aids, dentures, orthodontic retainers, mouthguards, and even pens and pencils. For busy households, the device can do double-duty as a disinfecting hub.

Prevents damages to your CPAP equipment. Testing shows that when used for five minutes a day, the Lumin’s UV light sanitizes your equipment while keeping it in tip-top shape. In over 150 hours of testing—up to five years worth of daily sanitizing—the plastics and silicone remained intact.

Another benefit of the Lumin is its ability to sanitize other household items including toothbrushes, hearing aids, glasses, jewelry, and car keys.

How to Use the Lumin

The Lumin is easy to use and doesn’t restrict you to only sanitizing your CPAP equipment and accessories. Any non-living items that you can fit inside the Lumin tray can be sanitized such as your toothbrush.

To use, simply pull out the Lumin tray, place the item inside, close the tray, press the power button, and let the UV light on the Lumin go to work! The Lumin operates on a five-minute cycle and when it’s finished, it will beep to indicate the cycle is finished. Your items inside are now disinfected and safe to be removed and used immediately. Simple and easy!

We know what you’re thinking—what about cleaning my CPAP hose? Don’t worry 3B thought of that too.

The Lumin and Lumin Bullet

A Perfect Combination for Total CPAP Sanitization

While the Lumin is great for sanitizing your CPAP mask and water chamber, it cannot sanitize the inside of your hose or nasal pillows. Thankfully, this has been resolved with the introduction of the 3B Medical Lumin Bullet UV Hose Cleaner. A smartly designed hose cleaner that safely and effectively uses UV light to sanitize and remove 99.9% of bacteria in under two minutes!

With the Lumin Bullet, you simply sanitize, and you’re ready to use. A small metallic probe that generates UV light is guided through the hose using two powerful magnets to provide you with a mess-free CPAP cleaning solution. To learn more about the benefits, click over to our Lumin Bullet review.

The Lumin is not made to sanitize your hose, making the duo a great way to achieve total CPAP sanitization without using harmful chemicals like ozone or activated oxygen.

Lumin CPAP Cleaner vs SoClean

Between the Lumin and SoClean, you may be curious which is better; though the devices may look similar, they operate very differently.

Lumin UV Cleaner Technology SoClean Activated Oxygen Technology (Ozone-based)
Lab-tested to reduce 99.9% of bacteria and viruses 99.9% reduction of various pathogen species
Compatible with most CPAP masks No need to buy an additional cleaner for CPAP tubing
Easy to use and cleans in 5 minutes SoClean machine parts require replacements every six months
Can be used for cleaning other household items Ozone-based cleaner (read below)

UV vs. Ozone – Why Choose Lumin Over SoClean?

If you’re looking for a non-ozone CPAP cleaner, consider the Lumin UV cleaning technology. Lab-tested to reduce 99.9% of all bacteria and viruses and compatible with nearly all CPAP masks, the Lumin sanitizing system uses powerful germicidal ultraviolet light to destroy the DNA of a variety of harmful microorganisms in just five minutes.

As of publication, there has never been a Lumin sanitizer recall. Though the Lumin is a trusted and robust disinfectant and sanitization solution, it does have some limitations. While it is an ozone-free CPAP cleaner, the Lumin does not eliminate the need to regularly wash your CPAP mask with mild soap and warm water.

It’s important to note that the FDA has not approved any CPAP cleaner to date. While both UV and ozone-based cleaners are not approved, including the Lumin and SoClean, there seems to be more concern regarding the use of ozone as stated by the FDA’s website:

The FDA has received reports from people who use CPAPs that they experienced unexpected asthma attacks, headaches, and breathlessness after using devices claiming to use ozone gas to clean their CPAP. Not only can ozone leak out of the CPAP equipment into your home during cleaning, but ozone levels inside of the CPAP equipment can be above safe limits even several hours after cleaning is completed.

Like the Lumin, SoClean works with most CPAP models without the use of water or chemicals. Instead, the SoClean, which also kills 99.9% of germs and viruses, uses activated oxygen, also known as ozone. It’s important to note that ResMed, a leading CPAP manufacturer, has stated “As of February 1, 2020, ResMed has indicated that ozone damage will void the CPAP manufacturer’s warranty. Therefore, it is recommended that SoClean not be used with ResMed CPAP machines.”

Because of our concern with ozone cleaners, we intentionally do not carry or promote the use of ozone cleaning products like the SoClean 2 and SoClean 3, which may exacerbate certain respiratory conditions like sleep apnea and asthma through ozone exposure

There’s a lot to consider when determining—between SoClean vs Lumin—which CPAP cleaner is best for you. As you contemplate the Lumin CPAP Cleaner vs SoClean, keep in mind the importance of regularly washing your mask, hose, and other accessories with warm water and mild soap to ensure maximum cleanliness regardless of which system you choose.

You may be debating the SoClean vs Lumin whether you’ve just recently been diagnosed with sleep apnea or have been on your CPAP journey for years; either way, we encourage you to make cleaning your CPAP equipment a priority.

Final Thoughts

The Lumin CPAP Mask Cleaner is well-liked by customers for its ease of use, impressive five-minute cleaning time, and ability to effectively disinfect CPAP parts and non-CPAP items like toothbrushes and mouth guards.

If you’re interested in a mess-free, quick solution, the Lumin may be just what you’re looking for!

  1. I have had my Lumin since December, 2018. I am not pleased with it. I use it every morning and it still has an odor of a sweaty body when I go to use it that night. As soon as it shuts off I immediately take it out. I would not invest in one again.

    1. Hi Carolyn, i’m sorry that you are dealing with an odor from your Lumin after such an extended period of time. I’ve never heard of the Lumin causing products to smell like a sweaty body, I have however, received complaints of a burning smell.

Please see the link below of Mask Wipes, as using them to wipe down your mask, or chamber once removed from the Lumin, may reduce the odor the product has.

      1. Hi Leroy,

This is the information we have received from 3B Medical, the manufacturer of the Lumin.

UV light has no odor. The vast majority of Lumin customers experience no odor. If there is an odor it is likely similar to the smell of burnt hair. Household dust is 90% composed of dead skin cells. Skin, like hair, contains a sulfide molecule. UV cleans with high energy light. That process also frees the sulfide molecule in a skin or hair molecule. If your unit has an odor please wash thoroughly with a damp cloth using Dawn liquid detergent and dry with a paper towel. Run one cycle with the drawer empty and let the device sit overnight. Next day, your unit should have no odor.

If you think of any questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

        Have a great day!

        1. I purchased my Lumin Cpap sanitizer a month ago. I am pleased with the sanitizing of my mask, HOWEVER, after sanitizing my mask, my mask has a “burnt hair smell”. I called the help line and they instructed me to clean the drawer with a small amount of Palmolive dish soap and warm water. Which I did, however. the smell is still present. Question, is this burnt hair smell harmful to breathe?

          1. Hi Susie,
I’m sorry you’re experiencing an odor from your Lumin. The smell isn’t harmful to breathe, but it is unpleasant.

I can see that you’ve cleaned the drawer, but did you run the Lumin through a cycle with the drawer empty? Please see the link below with information directly from 3B Medical, the manufacturer of the Lumin.

            https://grabby.cpap.com/2020-06-17_131013551-8Z134i-1360.png

Also, please clean your mask, supplies before putting them into the Lumin. Please be sure you’re not putting anything wet inside the Lumin, as this will cause an odor also.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

    2. My Lumin User Manual says it does clean the hise and the nasal pillow… to quote the manual, it says “ “it is very effective in cleaning your CPAP accessories. To keep your mask, Jose, and water chamber clean, we recommend using Lumin twice weekly. Disassembly if your mask isn’t not required.” This is different than what you describe in the comments I have read here on your site.

      1. Hi Janet, the 3B Medical Lumin CPAP Mask and Accessories Cleaner, is designed to sanitize your mask, water chamber and other household items that will fit inside the Lumin’s drawer, but it will not sanitize your hose.

The reason for this is the Lumin, can only sanitize what the light can touch. Since, the light can’t touch the inside of the hose, it will not clean it.

There is a separate product called 3B Medical Lumin Bullet UV Hose Cleaner, designed to sanitize your hose.

Please feel free to reach us with further questions, or concerns at: 1-800-356-5221.

      2. Cleaning everything is exactly why I bought it. It wasn’t cheap but I thought well worth the money. I did put my hose and nose piece in there to clean and it has an AWFUL smell that I hope goes away soon!!! I’m not happy that it’s not actually recommended for the hose when that’s what’s advertised.

        1. I totally agree. I bought this expensive unit so I would not have to wash it. Now 4 months later while researching another question, I find it will not clean the nose pads or the hose. What harm have I done to myself by not cleaning it with soap and water for 4 months. Talk about deceit and no integrity or ethics..

  2. The water chamber from the Airsense Autoset 10 does not fit inside the drawer. I did not think I had to measure it. I idiotically assumed Lumin would have made the stupid thing big enough for a popular CPAP machine.

    1. Hi Michael, i’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with fitting the chamber in the Lumin drawer. We have confirmed that the chamber does indeed fit into the Lumin drawer. Please feel free to contact us at: 1-800-356-5221 and we would be more than happy to assist you.

      Have a wonderful day!

    2. I use it for my water chamber on my resmed airsense 10 you just take the lid off at the hinge and nest the 2 pieces in the drawer with the seal and it all fits well.

  3. I am curious about the odor left behind that may or may not be easily cleaned away with wipes. I sent back my ozone CPAP cleaning machine because of the horrid smell it left. I do not want to run into the same problem with your product. I look forward to your response.
    Amy Burton

    1. Hi Amy, the information we have received from the manufacturer regarding odor with the Lumin is: UV light has no odor. Enjoy your day!

    1. Hi Paul, due to the shape of some nasal pillows, its possible that the UV light from the Lumin, may not be able to make direct contact with the inside of the pillow. In order for the Lumin to sanitize an item, the light must be able to touch the product.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221 and ask for Carol, you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Have a wonderful day!

  4. After reading all I can about sanitizing machines, I’ve come to the conclusion none of them are any good. I was talked into buying the purify 3 ozone machine. Now I read that it’s no good and I’ve developed a cough. Therefore is it safe to just clean in vinegar and water and touch of dawn in sink with regular water once a week?

    1. Hey Sue, I’m sorry to hear about the cough you’ve developed. Even though there are many cleaning machine options available, they are mostly used for convenience and aren’t a necessity. Yes, you can effectively clean your supplies with the use of vinegar, water and a mild detergent, as long as you are following the standard recommended replacement schedule in the link below.

      https://www.cpap.com/replace

Please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, with further questions, or concerns.

      Enjoy your day!

    1. Hi Trevor, you can put your nasal pillows inside of the Lumin, but since the light cannot touch the inside of the cushion, I would still recommend you wash them in warm water and mild detergent.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Have a great weekend!

      1. hello I purchase a Lumin cleaner, it smells awful. Had it for 2 weeks tried to send it back n they said since it was used i can’t return it i did everything they said to do. So I will be reporting u too the better business bureau.

        1. Hi Jodie,
I’m very sorry you’re having problems with an odor from your Lumin. Did you purchase the Lumin cleaner, from CPAP.com, or a different company?

CPAP.com, offers a free 30 day trial period on the 3B Medical Lumin CPAP Mask and Accessories Cleaner. If you purchased your Lumin, with CPAP.com and contacted us within the 30 day trial period, but we refused to accept a return of the cleaner, please give us a call at: 1-800-356-5221 and ask for Carol M., or you may e-mail your contact and order information to cpap@cpap.com, Attn: Carol M.

Also, per the 3B Medical (the manufacturer of the cleaner), UV light has no odor. The vast majority of Lumin customers experience no odor. If there is an odor it is likely similar to the smell of burnt hair. Household dust is 90% composed of dead skin cells. Skin, like hair, contains a sulfide molecule. UV cleans with high energy light. 5. Hi,
I have the Lumin sanitizer. I was interesting in the Lumin Bullet but I had read just about every article of the Lumin Bullet. Unfortunately the bullet won’t works with the heated hose of my Resmed Airsense 10. Are there any incoming Lumin devise in the near future to sanitizer the Resmed Airsense 10. If not let me know, other wise I will have to change to a different sanitizer such as SoClean that do all cpad equipment. I have a lot of VA veterans with the same issue because they are getting the Resmed Airsense 10

    1. Hi Efrain, I’m sorry to hear that the Lumin Bullet isn’t a good match for you since you have the heated hose. I am not aware of any other Lumin device that will work with the heated hose for the AirSense 10. If you haven’t signed up for our newsletter at cpap.com, please do so that we may send you a notice if a new product becomes available.

Also, please keep in mind that ResMed has determined that using the SoClean could cause damage to your machine. Per Resmed: “Effective for sales of ResMed machines on or after February 1, 2020, ResMed’s limited warranty will exclude damage to ResMed machines caused by the use of ozone devices. The limited warranty on ResMed masks, with the exception of ResMed AirTouch™ products, will not be affected.”

Most folks clean their hose by soaking for about 20 minutes in vinegar and water once per week.

Please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Enjoy your day!

      1. Hi,
I read that the Lumin Bullet works for CPAP hoses except for the Airsense 10 heated hose. Can you explain what the reason is? Is it because the hose has a 90 degree elbow? Or is there a metal coil in the hose that causes problems with the UV sanitizer? Curious minds wish to know! Thanks!

        1. Hi Arlene, my apologies for the delayed response. There are two reasons the Climateline Hose isn’t compatible with the Lumin Bullet. First, the straight probe will not go in the end of the hose with the elbow. The second issue being the other end of the hose has a sensor that the probe cannot get past.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

          Have a great weekend!

  6. Hi,

Can Lumin disinfect the inside of my Philips Dreamware nasal mask? I know it will not disinfect the inside of my nasal pillow but I’m concerned about it cleaning the inside Lumen of the hollow mask?

    1. Hi Shara, you can put the Bongo, inside of the Lumin, but I would recommend you run them through the Lumin cycle upside down and the opposite side just to make sure the UV light touches as much of the Bongo possible.

Also, keep in mind that the Lumin, is for supplemental cleaning and you should still follow the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning regimen listed below:

      Cleaning Tips

To clean your Bongo RX, please take the following steps:

Wet the Bongo RX with water, making sure to remove any residue that may have collected.
Disinfect with mild soap, making sure it covers the outer and inner part of the cones.
Thoroughly rinse with warm water, making sure to remove any soap left behind.
Set aside to dry. Do not place in the sun.

      Have a great day!

    1. Hey R. Delaney, while the Lumin is intended as a CPAP cleaning device, it can actually handle any item that can fit within it’s inner drawer. It is designed to fit most CPAP masks and water chambers, but can also disinfect many personal items. This includes your cell phone, hearing aid, dentures, toothbrush, oral appliance and many more.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221.

  7. I am living overseas and packed my Lumin sterilizer for the duration of our stay (6 months) – now that the Corona virus scare has hit every country, I cannot tell you how glad I am that we brought it along. Now everything – Cpap mask, keys, phone, toothbrush, reading glasses – anything that is an easy target for germs – go in to the Lumin everyday as part of our safety routine. Washing everything is still important, but as a last-step, It’s one of the easiest ways we can insure that everything is as clean as it can be during this pandemic. Thanks!

  8. I just purchased a Lumin sanitizer early this year. I never seen heard or been told about a Lumin bullet for the hose. How much would it cost me to purchase one.

    1. Hi Jean-Eudes,
I’m sorry you never received any information on the Lumin Bullet. Please see the link below for more details on the Lumin Bullet. You will notice the Bullet is currently on backorder.

  9. Similar to question above about disinfecting items during this coronavirus pandemic would Lumin work to disinfect food items?

    1. Hi Louise, my apologies for the delayed response. We are not safely able to say the Lumin will kill the Coronavirus. Per the manufacturer, We have measurements of UVC strength in terms of irradiance (mJ/cm2). One 5min cycle of Lumin will deliver between 330.0 mJ/cm2 at its weakest point up to 1200 mJ/cm2 at direct line of sight.

Influenza is killed with an irradiance of only 36 mJ/cm2, and we believe human coronavirus is about the same dosing.

The manufacturer of the Lumin, (3b Medical) has commissioned an outside laboratory to complete a study specific to the N95/R95 mask with one cycle of Lumin using human coronavirus. We expect those results back in 2-3 weeks. We will publish the findings possibly on our website 3bLumin.com. Until then we cannot state how the Lumin performs in this specific case.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Have a great day!

  10. I have the Lumin and Lumin Bullet. Both save me so much time! With the coronavirus pandemic, is it safe to put hospital masks in the Lumin to sanitize? There’s a shortage of masks, and I wonder if I could reuse mine with the help of the Lumin.

    1. Hi Charlene, my apologies for the delayed response. Yes, you can put your mask inside the Lumin. We know with certainty that UV-C light is extremely effective against most viruses and bacteria, but we have not been able to test Covid-19 which is a strand of the Coronavirus.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221.

      Have a great day!

  11. Thanks for the article.
Would the manufacturer tell us what is the irradiation dose the device can provide? How many Joul per cm is the lamp providing? That would give us a better idea of the device’s effectiveness.
    Thanks

    1. Hi Massimo, my apologies for the delayed response. We have measurements of UVC strength in terms of irradiance (mJ/cm2). One
5min cycle of Lumin will deliver between 330.0 mJ/cm2 at its weakest point
up to 1200 mJ/cm2 at direct line of sight.

      1. I use my Lumin just for the purpose of sensitizing 3m n95 mask. I looked up the Lumin spec. The power of the uvc is within the range to deactivate the viruses which was studied by other center in 2015. Although no one have used uvc to study on coronavirus. There are only two methods are recommended by cdc. One is uvc and the other is hydrogen peroxide vapor.

  12. Hi Carol. I work for PCL Constructors Canada Inc and we are wondering the effectiveness of the Lumin against covid-19. We want to use the unit to disinfect phones, pens etc. Also is the unit CSA approved. Also are you able to supply a more detailed description of the unit other then the manual?

    Thanks in advance

    Ken

    1. Hi Ken, my apologies for the delayed response. We know with certainty that UV-C light is extremely effective against most viruses and bacteria. We have not been able to test Covid-19 which is a strand of the Coronavirus.

Also, we have measurements of UVC strength in terms of irradiance (mJ/cm2). One 5min cycle of Lumin will deliver between 330.0 mJ/cm2 at its weakest point

Influenza is killed with an irradiance of only 36 mJ/cm2, and we believe human coronavirus is about the same dosing.

I have reached out to 3B Medical, the manufacturer of Lumin, to confirm the Lumin, is not CSA approved.

Please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, with further questions, or concerns.

      Have a great day!

  13. Hi! I have read that exposure to UVC light will cause damage to the materials in N95 masks, potentially making them less effective. Wouldn’t this be a problem with the Lumin when used to sanitize N95 masks?

    1. Hey Kristin, per the manufacturer, the completed tests does not show any indication that the UV light lessens the effectiveness of the N95 masks. The completed tests does indicate some deterioration of the mask straps after 30-50 cycles (due to the material), but does not change the effectiveness, of the mask itself.

  14. Is it safe to sanitize Apple Watch in the Lumin? What about cell phone cases? And screen protectors on phones? Are those safe to put in the Lumin?

  15. Just wondering is there a recommended number of how many times you can sanitize your N95 masks? Ex. Does it affect the effectiveness of the N95 mask?

    1. Hi John, unfortunately, due to the newness of the Coronavirus virus a lot is still unknown. I cannot confirm, or deny that the Lumin, will kill the COVID-19, at this time, the WHO and CDC are still working to determine the most effective ways to prevent the spread.

    1. Hi Ken, the explanation given (per 3B Medical, the manufacturer), is the Lumin will remove ALL bacteria from the food and most foods have some bacteria, but no need to remove all bacteria because our stomach is designed to take care of bad bacteria.

For further questions, or concerns, please reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Have a great day!

  16. I have a question regarding the sanitizing of non-CPAP items. With the current suggestion to wear face masks (Covid19 ), can the masks be satisfactorily sanitized in the chamber?

    Thank you.

    1. Hi P Marchetti, we know with certainty that UV-C light is extremely effective against most viruses and bacteria. We have not been able to test Covid-19 (per the manufacturer 3B Medical).

Per the manufacturer, they have commissioned an outside laboratory to complete a study specific to the N95/R95 mask with one cycle of Lumin using human coronavirus. We expect those results back in 2-3 weeks. We will publish the findings possibly on our website 3bLumin.com when they become available.

For further questions, or concerns, please reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail: cpap@cpap.com.

      Have a great day!

  17. I have been using the Lumin cleaner for over a year and love it. Yes it does give the mask a little odor but in the same point that odor tells me it’s clean. Currently now with the virus Covid 19 that’s going around we are using our Lumin to disinfect our cell phones and our Face masks each time we wear them

    1. Hi Claire, I’m very sorry to hear your Lumin, isn’t working for you. Have you tried a different electrical outlet? If your Lumin, is plugged into a surge protector of some sort, please try plugging it directly into the wall outlet.

Did you by chance purchase the Lumin, from CPAP.com? If so, it was sold with a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty. If you give us a call we can set up a return and evaluation for you. If you didn’t purchase from us, please contact the supply company from whom you purchased the Lumin.

We can be reached at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Best Wishes

    1. Hi Rebecca, the Lumin, is designed to sanitize your mask, water chamber and other household items that will fit inside the Lumin’s drawer, but it does not sanitize your CPAP machine.

For further questions and concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Enjoy your day!

  18. Hi, do you have results of the previously mentioned Lumin Human Coronavirus study? I don’t see it on the Lumin website. Thanks.

    1. Hello,
I have reached out to 3B Medical (manufacturer of Lumin), and was advised, as of now the research is ongoing.

Once, there is additional information regarding the research for the effectiveness of the Lumin, against the COVID-19, the results will be posted on the Lumin website.

      Have a wonderful weekend!

  19. I’ve been selling these items with the education that the light needs to just be able to penetrate not make contact. So tubes have been suggested and headgear. From what I’ve just read, it sounds very misleading and so many restrictions. It would seem that the soclean would be the only effective CPAP cleaning machine. I think these two Lumin products could be useless if not used very carefully with the restrictions. You should do something about that.

    1. Hi Molly,
I’m very sorry that you feel mislead. CPAP.com, strives to provide the most accurate information possible for all products we advertise. Per the manufacturer, the light must be able to touch the product in order to completely sanitize it.

This is why the Lumin, is advertised to clean the mask, water chamber and other household items and the Lumin Bullet, is advertised to clean the hose only.

As with any product user instructions should be followed to maintain the effectiveness of that product. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the Lumin, Lumin Bullet, or any other product we sell, or advertise.

Please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may email us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Have a great weekend!

  20. Hi – I bought filter material for to make face mask filters. The company is called Filti. The material is non-woven Polypropylene/Nanofiber/Polyester composite filter media and the finish is sonic lamination. Can you tell me if I can use the Lumin to decontaminate my filters in there. They cannot be washed.

    Thank you.

    1. Hi Denise, my apologies for the delayed response. Per 3B Medical, the manufacturer of the Lumin, you can sanitize anything that can fit inside of the Lumin’s drawer, that the light can touch.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, or you may e-mail us at: cpap@cpap.com.

      Have a great day!

    1. Hi Artmaniq,
My apologies for the delayed response. When you say machine, are you referring to the Lumin Sanitizer? If so, the body of the device and tray can be wiped down if needed with a soft, non-abrasive cloth if it becomes dirty, but otherwise, the Lumin does not require extensive upkeep.

Please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221, further questions, or concerns.

      Have a great day!

  21. I just received my Lumin and Lumin Bullet this week and it was everything I expected. I researched all of the top CPAP cleaners and the Lumin came out on top, for me, primarily because it didn’t use ozone. It is easy to use and I can use it for other items as well.
    I highly recommend the Lumin!

  22. When the machine is on, but after cleaning, there is a very bright green light that stays on and brightens the whole bedroom. Is there any way to turn off this light without unplugging the machine?

  23. I cannot see the UV light inside my Lumin when turned on. Am I supposed to see a light or not? Confused.
