Customer Highlights

FINALLY!—5 Stars: “After Liberty Mirage was discontinued, I was forced to begin the search for a new mask. #1 was F&P Evora Full Face…which was LOUD. I would call it “crackly.” The seal was perfect, but it was LOUD even when I held my breath. Attempt #2 was Phillips DreamWear Full Face, which is a shape that is new to me. I could feel and hear my breath against the mask, I think because it was more shallow than I’m used to. Too loud, even with a good seal. Also did not like the vent on top of the head. Not comfy with my head on my pillow. FINALLY, WE COME TO THE WINNER, ResMed AirFit F30 full face mask. SILENT. Thank HEAVENS. That is it.” Verified Purchase 11/06/2023

The ResMed AirFit F30 Review

The AirFit F30 easily accommodates all the most common sleeping positions, though it’s not the best choice for stomach sleepers. That said, many stomach sleepers still find it to be quite comfortable and effective.

This well-made ResMed mask is designed to reduce noise and minimize pressure points. It is very easy to use and disassembles into only four pieces for quick maintenance!

Let’s take a closer look at specific features of the AirFit F30 design:

Compact Under-the-Nose Design Minimizes Pressure

Unlike traditional full face masks that sit over the nose and mouth, the F30 fits under the nose, sealing around the nostrils and mouth.

This unique design reduces pressure points and minimizes red marks. It also creates a shallow profile that allows you to lay on your side or stomach without causing your mask to slip out of place.

Our in-house product reviewer felt that the mask’s compact design made it easier for air to flow directly into their airway.

Free-Moving Hose Connection Makes It Easier to Get Comfortable

The AirFit F30 features a traditional CPAP hose connection. However, the elbow swivels 360° and moves up and down.

This hose connection is not as flexible as a top-of-the-head hose connection, like the one featured on the AirFit F30i.

Despite this, the F30 still does a good job of minimizing hose tangling and pulling, making it easy to find a comfortable sleeping position.

Mask Cushion May Be Difficult to Align With Each Nostril

The AirFit F30 features a compact under-the-nose cushion that makes it possible to sleep in just about any position while wearing this mask.

While this cushion may look similar to the AirFit F30i, there are some differences. Most importantly, the nostril holes are shaped slightly differently.

Some reviewers have complained that the AirFit F30 cushion may be harder to align than the improved F30i design.

Seal Strength Is Not As Strong As Competitors

The AirFit F30 was one of the very first under-the-nose masks for ResMed. Because of this, this mask has a less flexible seal compared to more recent versions, such as the F30i.

Reviewers state that this mask maintains a secure seal most of the time. However, air leaks can occur if you have thick facial hair or use high CPAP pressure settings.

If you like the AirFit F30 but want to ensure that you get a good seal no matter what, we suggest trying this Pad-A-Cheek anti-leak strap for ResMed AirFit F20 and F30!

One-Size Fits-All Headgear Features Adjustable Velcro Straps

This mask is held in place with cloth headgear straps secured by four easy-to-use velcro loops anchored to the mask’s frame.

Despite being one-size-fits-all, the F30 headgear is fully adjustable thanks to five velcro straps– two along the cheekbones, two along the lower jawline, and one along the top of the head.

Because the headgear is one-size-fits-all, people with very small or very large heads may find it difficult to get a comfortable, secure fit. For a list of CPAP masks that fit petite faces, check out our review on Best CPAP Masks for Women!

Soft Cloth Headgear Reduces Pressure Across Your Head

The F30 features soft cloth head straps that create fewer pressure points compared to other types of headgear.

This headgear cradles the lower contours of the head and includes an adjustable velcro strap at the top of the head.

QuietAir Vent Technology Reduces Noise to Less Than a Whisper

This mask features AirFit’s Quiet Air Vent Technology, which produces just 21 decibels of sound– quieter than a whisper!

While the location of the air vent holes differs depending on the specific model, the F30’s air vents are spread out along the mask’s elbow.

The placement of these vents allows for excess air to be diffused over a wider area, reducing the noise produced when air is released.

Quick-Release Elbow Makes It Easy to Detach From Your CPAP Hose

The AirFit F30 features an easy-to-use Quick-Release Elbow. The simple pinch-and-squeeze system makes it possible to detach your mask from your CPAP hose with just one hand!

Unlike the AirFit F30i, the elbow is situated at the front of the mask, making it easier to reach even for people with dexterity issues.

This design is perfect if you prefer to leave your mask on while making quick trips to the bathroom or kitchen overnight. Plus, it makes it much easier to disassemble your mask for cleaning and maintenance.

Self-Guided Magnetic Clasps Make It Easy to Put Your Mask On

One of the best features of the ResMed AirFit line is the self-guiding magnetic clasps that make it easy to put your mask back on, even in the dark.

This set-it-and-forget-it design makes it easy to put your mask on and take it off without ever having to readjust your velcro straps. Our customers love that it makes midnight bathroom trips a breeze!

Keep in mind that people with certain medical devices, such as pacemakers, may need to avoid magnetic CPAP masks. Talk to your doctor before using the AirFit F30 with a medical implant.

Super Simple Cleaning and Maintenance With Just Four Pieces

The AirFit F30 is very easy to clean and maintain, thanks to its simple design.

This mask features only four pieces– the cloth head strap, hard mask frame, silicone mask cushion, and quick-release elbow.

The AirFit F30 mask cushion must be wiped down following each use. ResMed states that the entire mask should be disassembled, cleaned, and dried weekly with mild soap and warm water.

The AirFit F30 Offers Limited Sizing Options

One of the biggest downsides to the AirFit F30 is that it offers only limited sizing, including one-size-fits-all headgear and two mask cushion sizes.

While the one-size-fits-all headgear is adjustable, some reviewers have stated that they struggle to get a secure fit with very small or very large face shapes.

Meanwhile, F30 cushions are only available in small and medium sizes, making it difficult for people with large noses to find the right fit.

It May Be Better to Spend Your Money On a Different Mask

The price of the AirFit F30 is comparable to other full face AirFit masks. That said, it is also the least popular in that line because it doesn’t really solve any new problems that those other masks don’t address.

That said, if you are looking for a full face mask with a compact under-the-nose design and don’t want a top-of-the-head hose connection, the F30 could be the mask for you!
