Somnetics Transcend 365 Review – With Scores and Rankings

Table of Contents

The Transcend 365 was released by Somnetics in the Spring of 2019, and has state-of-the-art features never before seen in a travel CPAP machine. Here’s just some of what this device can do:

  • Allows a Person to Use the Humidifier When Using Battery Power
  • Provides a Pulse ofHumidification Only When Breathing in, Conserving Water and Battery
  • Humidifier Connects to the Transcend 365 Magnetically
  • Lightest CPAP Machine / Humidifier Combo Available Today

We’ve reviewed the Transcend 365 and put it to the test, evaluating it for ten different factors on a sliding scale of 1 – 10. The scores for these categories are then totaled, giving a composite score out of 100. We then compared the scores to the score we gave for the Transcend 3, and the older Transcend 2 (also known as the Transcend Auto miniCPAP), to see how this device shakes out in one comprehensive review. Our ratings are below:

Our Ratings for the Transcend 365

Noise Level – 5

We gave the Transcend 365 a score of 5 because it registers 30 decibels when running. Many of the leading premium machines check in at a decibel rating of 26, which is considered whisper-quiet. While 30 decibels is pretty loud for a travel CPAP machine, it may not be that bad. The motor could have a quieter pitch, so the extra noise may not be as noticeable.

Transcend 2 4

Cost – 8

Priced at around $829, the Transcend 365 is priced fairly considering all you get. You’ll get a built-in humidifier that was designed with unique cutting-edge technology. You’ll also get a decent travel CPAP costing less than similar competitors. For this reason, we rated cost as a fairly high score.

Transcend 2 9

Warranty – 8

The warranty for the Transcend 365 is one of the best in the business. It protects the device for up to 2 years and covers manufacturer defects, like most warranties.

DreamStation Auto 8
Transcend 3 9
Transcend 2 9

Weight – 7

The Transcend 365 is a little heavier than other premium competitors like the Z2 travel device, but before you count it out just yet, you’d need to re-weigh all competitors with their humidifier. if you factor in the weights of these items with their integrated humidifier, all of a sudden the Transcend 365 is the lightest one on the market.

Other Machine Weight Scores

DreamStation Auto 6
Transcend 3 9
Transcend 2 9

Size – 8

The Transcend 365 can fit easily into a purse, travel bag, or suitcase. It also features one of the smallest water-based humidification systems out there, which is why we gave it a high score.

Pressure Relief – 9

The Transcend 365 uses Somnetic’s famous EZEX pressure relief technology, intended to make it easier to exhale by reducing the pressure when breathing out. EZEX is comparable to the pressure relief technologies found on Philips and ResMed devices.

Therapy Tracking – 3

This is one area where the Transcend 365 is lacking. It doesn’t have any kind of mobile app for viewing your data, though some data is available on the display screen. You can also access your data using a USB connection to your Windows computer. If you use a Mac, you’re completely out of luck. By not building Bluetooth connectivity into the machine, Somnetics missed out on a big way that people use and access their data.

Humidification – 9

The humidifier on the Transcend 365 is arguably the best feature of the device, with a design conserving water and energy and allowing someone to use it while connected to the optional overnight battery.

Battery – 8

The P10 Integrated Battery for the Transcend 365 was designed exclusively for the Transcend 365, and will allow you to use humidification while connected to battery power. This is a first when it comes to CPAP devices. The battery is not included and will need to be purchased separately, but is a highly recommended accessory.

Conclusion

The Transcend 365 scores very well in the Cost, Warranty, Pressure Relief, Humidification, Smart Features, and Battery categories. For people that are looking for a travel machine with real water-based humidification and the ability to use it off-grid, the Transcend 365 is that machine. If you’re especially sensitive to noise, or you want to have easy access to all your data, you’ll likely need a different machine.

Don’t miss our review of the Transcend 3 where we put the other machine from Somnetics in 2019 through the same tests and came up with a composite score, you can use as you evaluate these machines.

  1. Please, please, please don’t buy this cpap. The first time I used it was in Africa. It broke the second night. The error code indicated that either the motor was shot or the mother board was. After six weeks I got it back. I’m sitting in Thailand right now. It started acting up in Singapore and now it won’t even turn on. I’ve never written a review for anything in my life, but this really is too important to ignore.

Buying this machine, especially given the cost, is something you may well regret.

    1. Hi Jeffrey, i’m very sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with your Transcend 365. The experience that you are having is not our experience with the Transcend 365, so most likely the issue that you are having is isolated.

Did you purchase your machine from CPAP.com? If so please keep in mind that your machine was sold with a a three year warranty, so please contact us at: 1-800-356-5221, so that we may resolve your concerns right away.

If your machine was sold from a different company, please be sure to reach out to the company so that the machine can be evaluated, repaired/replaced.

      We wish you the best!

  2. I’m not too concerned about a little extra noise coming from the machine itself, I just can’t stand to hear the in and out breathing. With my Dream Station I don’t have this. What is the story on the Transcend 365? Also, can you use the humidifier without the battery? Thanks!

    1. Hi Sam, i’m very sorry for the delayed response. Just to confirm, do you already have the Transcend 365 and are hearing sound when you breathe in and out? If so, I would recommend you try and adjust your exhalation relief feature. If it’s currently at a setting lower than 3, increase to 3 to see if this helps with the noise.

The machine works on AC power so yes, you can use the Humidifier without the battery.

For further questions, or concerns, please feel free to reach us at: 1-800-356-5221.

  3. Most often when I use this CPAP water leaks/spits out of the water chamber. I then have to clean it up, adjust the rubber ring again into the water chamber and try again. Sometimes it takes two to three tries to get it working without water leakage. Is there something defective with the water chamber that makes the rubber ring coming out?

    1. Hi Hanna, i’m sorry that your having a problem with your water chamber. I would recommend you start eliminating possible causes of the leakage and rubber ring not staying in place by purchasing a new water chamber.

If the problem persists, feel free to contact whomever the equipment was purchased from, or you may contact CPAP.com, for further troubleshooting at: 1-800-356-5221.

      We wish you the best!

  4. I find this review is misleading, the bottom line that should be emphasized is the scores. The Transcend 365 scores is in the third place below the 2 leading companies, actually all the Transcend machines are at the bottom. Please Correct me if I’m wrong.

    1. Hi Avi, thank you for your feedback. We have no intention to mislead our readers, regarding the reviews. You are correct, the Transcend is rated at the bottom for the machines being reviewed which is represented on the total score chart.
