The backlight for this machine either shuts off automatically after a short intreval or can be set to off.
The machine display is lit for ease of reading.
These machines were designed with a woman's lifestyle in mind.
Timed (T) or Spontaneous Timed (ST) modes provide a customizable backup rate that forces the machine to switch from exhalation to inhalation. In ST Mode, the machine monitors the breathing cycle and switches from EPAP to IPAP once the backup time is met or whenever the break is detected through the sensors; whichever occurs first. The time aspect is only meant to act as a backup respiratory rate to the (S) function (see Spontaneous). This is used for patients with central sleep apnea, or those who need non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
Spontaneous (S) mode tells the machine to start blowing at IPAP pressure with no specific interval set. The machine must wait and detect a break in the breathing cycle before reacting, switching from exhalation to inhalation. If a backup rate is needed, then the unit will need a time interval setting and will be marked 'Yes' on the Timed property.
This feature detects excessive mask leaks due to poor cushion seal or when a user stops therapy by removing a mask when in use. The alert can be in the form of an audible alarm (ALARM) or a text message on the unit's LCD display (LCD).
This feature turns the machines off and on when putting on or taking off the mask. When you put your mask on the machines senses you breathing and turns itself on. Take off the mask and the machine turns off.
Altitude Adjustment is defined as the machine's ability to compensate for changes in altitude. Compensation can either occur manually or automatically. Manual adjustments occur within the Setup Menu and must be set by the user. Automatic requires no user intervention.
Software is an option on some CPAP machines. The software can give details on compliance and performance. The patient or physician downloads the data from the CPAP machine to determine how long a patient has used their machine each night and how well the machine is working to stop Apnea/Hypopnea events. This property shows the software package to use for machine that has the ability to transfer data to your computer and report Hours of Usage. See Advanced Software for a list of machines that can report AHI or Leakage.
This property marks the machines that have the ability to record performance data on a removable card. Some machines that are flagged as having software (seeOptional Software), do not have removable memory cards, rather instead, records information on-board and must use a download cable to retrieve the data from the machine.
Identifies which machines are data capable and have the ability to track your therapy progress over time. The machine captures key metrics like AHI (Apnea/Hypopnea Index), Leakage, and most pressure used. Depending on the machine, the data can be retrieved through an on Machine Screen Display (MSD), through Optional Software (OS), and/or through SmartCode (SC).
An integrated battery pack attaches to and functions seamlessly with the machine it is integrated with. It allows your CPAP to run on AC and fail over to the DC battery only if necessary.
A 'Yes' answer indicates that the CPAP Machine has an optional DC cable that plugs directly into a DC port. This allows you to use a DC power source, such as a battery or car cigarette lighter outlet. Some optional DC cables include alligator clips to connect directly to battery terminals. See the "Power" tab of the machine's product page for more detailed information on how the machine works with alternate power sources, and what optional cables and batteries are compatible.
Domestic Voltage is the voltage that is used with a standard wall outlet in the United States and ranges from 100-120 volts. International Voltage can range from 220v-240v AC.
Indicates which machines have a DC port in which you can use to connect a battery pack or a deep cycle marine battery with an optional DC cable. This is different from an integrated battery that works only with the machine it was designed for. (i.e. Everest CPAP Machine) see property Integrated Battery
This is the maximum altitude at which the machine will properly operate.
Leak Compensation is a machine feature that identifies mask leaks and adjusts to maintain the delivered pressure as set. If marked N/A assume the information is not available due to being out of production or unavailable.
This property defines whether the machine is capable of continuously blowing a constant pressure. All CPAP machines are defined as 'continuous', but some BiPAP's and APAP's also come with a CPAP mode; some BiPAP and BiLevel machines Do NOT. By setting the IPAP and EPAP to the same pressure, a CPAP Mode is achieved, preventing the EPAP pressure from dropping.
The Ramp feature allows the user to start treatment at a lower pressure to fall asleep with, gradually raising the pressure over a set time. This is a comfort setting and can set from 0 to 45 minutes on most CPAP machines.
Pressure Relief is a feature that lowers your therapy pressure to help with difficulties breathing against the machine's airflow, providing a more comfortable and natural breathing pattern. Assistance can occur on the Exhalation, on the Inhalation, and on both exhalation and inhalation at the same time.
This Property lists the operating range for the Exhalation Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP). This is the pressure setting used when you exhale. EPAP is always lower than the IPAP (inhalation) pressure, making breathing out easier and more comfortable.
A CPAP (Constant Positive Air Pressure) delivers continuous airflow at a prescribed pressure at 4cm to 30cm. APAP operates between a range and BiPAP machines are a mix of ranges and constant pressures. This pressure is measured in centimeters of water pressure (H2O) and 4-20cm is average pressure range on most CPAP machines.
This property defines whether the machine automatically adjusts pressure to meet the needs of the CPAP user on a breath-by-breath basis. All APAP machines are defined as 'Auto Adjusting', but some BiPAP's also use an Auto feature on both the IPAP and EPAP. If not marked, Yes, assume the machine does not have AUTO capabilities.
This is the maximum water capacity held by the chamber of the compatible humidifier.
This indicates that the machine has an integrated heated hose option to enhance humidification and reduce rainout. An integrated headed hose receives power directly from the machine and does not require a power supply. The tube's heat settings are set through the machine menu screen.
A yes in this field indicates the machine and humidifier have technology to reduce rainout, the water that collects in a hose when using a heated humidifier. Sensors measure the air temperature in the room and adjust the amount of heat and moisture delivered to the mask to reduce or omit rainout.
This property identifies how the machine incorporates a Heated Humidifier. Build In humidifiers are built into the CPAP machine and cannot be separated from the machine. Integrated humidifiers connect directly to the CPAP machine and they can only be used with compatible CPAP machines. With Integrated humidifiers, the CPAP machine, can be separated and used without the humidifier. CPAP machines that do not have a built in humidifier and do not have an integrated humidifier option have to use a Stand Alone humidifier as the machine's heated humidifier option. Stand Alone humidifiers can be used with any machine and connect to the CPAP machine with an additional hose.
Identifies which CPAP has a humidifier that is built into the CPAP. Built-In humidifiers cannot be separated from the CPAP machine.
This indicates which heated humidifier works best with the listed CPAP machine. In some instances, Built-in is used to describe a machine/humidifier combination system. The Fisher and Paykel HC150 was used for machines that do not have an integrated or built in humidifier system.
Measures the overall dimension of the machine only. Machines with a built-in humidifier are marked NA and must refer to Entire Size dimensions.
This is the size of the CPAP with Heated Humidifier in its travel bag.
This is the combined dimensions of the CPAP with the Heated humidifier.
This is the combined weight of the machine, heated humidifier, power cables, bag and hose. The weight of the shipping box is not included in the number.
This is the actual weight of the CPAP Machine without any accessories, power cord, or humidifier. Machines with a weight 3lbs or less are also identified in the Under 3 lbs property.
This measures only the weight of the machine and does not include total weight of power cables, bag, additional batteries or non-built-in humidifiers.
Looking to travel? We have found some machines are easier to travel with than others. These smaller and more lightweight machines are still robust enough for constant daily use as well as travel.
This indicates which manuals are included with the purchase of a CPAP machine. Most all machines come with a patient manual; also called 'user manual', which may or may not have pressure setting instructions. Some machines come with both the patient and quick setup guide or both patient and clinician manuals.
This identifies which machines have a decibel rating of 29 and lower. This does not account for use with the humidifier attached, which could supply additional volume that can muffle or amplify sound. This property does not account for noise that travels through the CPAP tubing, seemingly sounding louder than the measured db rating.
This is the level of sound the machine produces at a pressure of 10cm, standing 1 meter away or roughly 3 feet from machine. Measured in Decibels, the values also indicate whether the machine is considered a "quiet CPAP"; see Quiet property.
Warranty is the length of time that the manufacturer will guarantee a product to be free of defects. Warranties vary in length depending on manufacturer, but generally all machines come with a 2 Year Warranty.
This identifies the machine as continuous, auto adjusting, or bilevel operation. This does not identify whether the machine automatically adjusts pressure. Auto adjusting refers to APAP, whereas BiPAP Auto is differentiated using the Auto Pressure Adjustment property. BiPAP machines are defined further using Spontaneous or Timed properties.
A CPAP machine blows one constant pressure of air into your passageway throughout the night. Your ideal pressure was determined during your sleep study.
A BiPAP machine delivers two separate pressures of air; One when the patient inhales and a separate pressure when they exhale. The machine alternates between the two set pressures to help optimize your sleep apnea treatment.
An APAP machine automatically adjusts on a breath by breath basis to blow the minimum pressure needed to keep your airway open during sleep. This allows your machine to provide you with your ideal pressure nightly.

OPTIONAL Heated Humidifier
Devilbiss offers two integrated humidifiers for use with the IntelliPAP 2 machines. Warm, moist air travels through the hose to the mask to provide comfort to the user. The humidifiers attach to the base of the machine, so only the height is increased with the two are used together. The IntelliPAP 2 Auto machine can be paired with both versions of the IntelliPAP 2 Heated Humidifier:
Standard Heated Humidifier: The standard humidifier can be set to a level ranging from 0-5 and will heat to provide that level of moisture all night long during inhalation and exhalation. Level 0 provides no heat, while level 5 provides the most heat.
Pulse Dose Humidifier: The Pulse Dose feature provides moisture during inhalation only. During exhalation, the humidifier is bypassed, helping to clear moisture out of the hose, retain water in the chamber for a longer period of time, and reduce power draw from the machine and humidifier. The humidifier can be set from 0-5 with 0 being no heat and 5 being the highest heat setting.
Bluetooth Capable Technology
Enable the Bluetooth feature to begin pairing the IntelliPAP 2 to the SmartLink app designed by DeVilbiss. The SmartLink Data Management System is designed for use on Apple and Android devices. To begin using the app, visit the iTunes App Store or the Google Play Store depending on the device. Search "DeVilbiss SmartLink" to locate the SmartLink app. Once the app has been downloaded and the Bluetooth option is turned ON, data will begin streaming from the machine to the handheld device.
The SmartLink app is compatible with the following devices:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running Apple iOS 8 or newer
Android smartphones and tablets running 4.0.3 or newer
SmartFlex & Adjustable Rounding
SmartFlex is designed to decrease pressure during exhalation 1, 2, or 3 cm for a more comfortable breathing pattern during therapy.
Adjustable rounding allows the user to customize the transition between exhalation to inhalation and inhalation to exhalation. The machine settings range from 0 to 5. Level 0 represents a direct jump in pressure, while level 5 represents the softest transition.
Ramp Comfort Feature
The IntelliPAP 2 AutoAdjust offers Ramp as a comfort feature. Ramp is designed to gradually increase therapy to the lower pressure of the auto range over a period of time. Between 0 to 45 minutes, the machine will slowly raise the pressure to help the user become acclimated to their therapy so they may fall to sleep with ease. The ramp button is on top of the machine and to the right of the humidifier symbol. Use the button to start or stop ramp. Please Note: If the machine’s lower pressure of the auto range is 3, ramp will not be available.
Auto Start / Auto Stop
The Auto Start / Auto Stop feature allows the user to begin and finish CPAP therapy without manually pressing a button. When enabled, place the mask against the face and begin breathing into the mask to start sleep therapy. Likewise, remove the mask when waking to stop sleep therapy. It may take a few moments for the "auto off" feature to kick in, and turn the device off. If the Auto Start / Auto Stop feature is not desired, the machine is equipped with button to manually control the device.

Tips to Position the IntelliPAP 2 onto the OPTIONAL Humidifier
When placing the machine on top of the humidifier cradle, ensure the display is facing the same direction as the pale blue tab on the water chamber. Then, when removing the machine from the cradle, lightly push inward on the rectangular button near the rear corner of the cradle. When properly positioned, the units are easily attached and dismantled.
Compatible Replacement Parts
Please Note: Some of the parts used on the original IntelliPAP are also compatible with IntelliPAP 2 machines. Other parts are strictly designed for the IntelliPAP 2.
These disposable filters and reusable filters are compatible with both the IntelliPAP and the IntelliPAP 2. However, the IntelliPAP 2 has a filter cover which was not used on the original machine.
The IntelliPAP 2 comes with a 6 Foot Long 15mm slim hose. If the user prefers to use a longer hose or a hose with a 22mm diameter, the settings may be changed on the machine to accommodate the hose, with the exception of a heated hose.
The IntelliPAP 2 has a power supply attached to the power cord. This design is different from the original power cord used with the IntelliPAP machines.
Air Supply Port Cover
The functionality of the device is dependent upon the placement of the air supply port cover. There are two ways to utilize the cover:
When the IntelliPAP 2 machine and humidifier are connected, the air supply port cover folds into the circular crevice located on the back of the IntelliPAP 2 machine.
If using the IntelliPAP 2 machine without the humidifier, reposition the air supply port cover so it coats the circular opening found on the bottom of the IntelliPAP 2 machine. Please Note: The cover must be put back into the opening found on the back of the machine when preparing to reconnect the machine and humidifier. If the cover is still protecting the hole on the bottom of the machine, the devices will not fasten.
Water Chamber Cleaning Tips
The water chamber for the IntelliPAP 2 Heated Humidifier needs to be cleaned daily. Please Note: The water chamber may be placed in the dishwasher for an occasional cleaning. When placed in the dishwasher, the chamber must sit on the top rack. For all other daily needs, hand wash the chamber with warm water and mild soap.
Before cleaning the chamber, the user will need to remove the tank from the humidifier cradle. Follow these steps to withdraw the chamber:
Gently press on the chamber release latch which is located at the front of the chamber.
Slide the chamber out of the cradle.
Locate and push forward on the chamber disassembly lever which is directly behind the chamber release latch.
The chamber will open into two halves.
Cleaning Tips for the Humidifier Cradle
The cradle which holds the water chamber should be cleaned weekly. Please Note: The cradle should not be submerged in water. Instead, use a moist cloth to wipe the exterior of the unit. Follow these steps when preparing the clean the cradle:
Remove the power source to allow the heater plate to cool. The cooling process may take up to 10 minutes.
Once cooled, withdraw the water chamber from the inside of the cradle.
Use the flow generator release button to separate the IntelliPAP 2 machine from the cradle base.
Use a moist towel to cleanse the cradle.
Instructions for Filling the Water Chamber
When refilling the water chamber, use distilled water to help prevent mineral build-up. The IntelliPAP 2 water chamber has water level indicators located on the sides and top of the chamber. Do not surpass the specified markings when refilling the chamber, as it may cause water damage.
Sealing Gasket Maintenance
Before each use, examine the sealing gasket surrounding the circumference of the chamber. Ensure the gasket has been put back into place after each cleaning.

Universal Power
The DeVilbiss IntelliPAP 2 system operates automatically between 110v and 240v AC. When traveling either inside or outside the USA, there are no switches to switch or fuses to change. The machine will automatically sense what voltage is needed and set itself to run on that power.
The user will need to adapt the plug that goes into the wall to fit the style of outlet socket that is being used. This is simply done with a Power Adapter Plug Kit. This is the same type of plug adapter that would be used with a hair dryer or an electric shaver. World Traveler Power Adapter Plugs.
The DC Power Cord for IntelliPAP 2 CPAP Machines plugs into the back of the IntelliPAP 2 units, allowing the user to connect the CPAP to an external DC battery source. The IntelliPAP can be powered by plugging the 12V DC Power Cord into a cigarette lighter plug. This is ideal for traveling by car, boat, or recreational vehicle that is equipped with a cigarette lighter plug.
Important Note: If using the OPTIONAL heated humidifier, the IntelliPAP 2 machines cannot be operated from DC power. A modified sine wave inverter of at least 120V AC is necessary to power both the machine and humidifier from a DC power source.
Because the IntelliPAP 2 machines use a separate connection for AC and DC power, they can be set up in a battery backup configuration. The AC power cord is plugged AC power source such as a wall outlet, and the OPTIONALDC Power Cord for IntelliPAP 2 CPAP Machines is plugged into a DC power source such as a battery. The IntelliPAP will use the AC power source when available, otherwise will convert to the DC power source, without any interruption in therapy. If the AC power source becomes available again, the machine will revert back. Please note that if using the heated humidifier, it will not function from DC power.
The Portable Outlet is a great way to power this CPAP machine, as well as many others. The Portable Outlet converts the battery's stored DC power into convenient outlet power, allowing you to power any CPAP machine or electrical device using the main power supply that came with the device. The Portable Outlet is so versatile it can power TVs, stereos, blenders... anything! It also includes convenient USB ports that allow you to charge your phone or tablet while charging your CPAP.
Weighing in at only 1.7 pounds the Freedom Battery is a terrific option for travel. Pair the DC input cord included with the battery and the DC Power Cord for IntelliPAP 2 CPAP Machines to connect to the Freedom battery. This lithium-ion battery meets UN Manual Test and Criteria requirements for travel.
PLEASE NOTE: It is also possible to connect the IntelliPAP 2 to the Freedom Battery using the 150 Watt Sine Wave Inverter (sold separately).
The auto adjust feature goes into a “wide open” mode about every other night. It takes the pressure up to 20cm and then I have to turn it off and then back on to reset. I’m getting an “e81 pulse dose failure”. more...

Did not work well for me
I had to return this machine (and a replacement) after both machines would wake me up in the middle of the night with full pressure (19+). I assume I had apnea incidents and the pressure went up but then stayed up. I would stay awake and breathe carefully but the pressure simply did not fall. There were not leaks in the tubing or mask; I've been using CPAP over 10 years. The machine I then bought was the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSense and it works perfectly, showing a 90th percentile pressure level of 11 over many nights. CPAP.com was fantastic in helping me diagnose the problem and replacing the first machine and then permitting me to return the second IntelliPAP machine. more...

Very Good Machine
The size and features are great. I like the simplistic hose connection and good rubber base. I don't use the humidifier, so I can't comment on that connection. Using the rotating button for the menu is easy and the menu is well though out. My only gripe with it is how bright the buttons are and how long they stay bright. Even at the lowest brightness setting, it's too bright in the middle of the night when I have to get up. I would recommend this to anyone. more...

Great machine and made in the USA!
This is the first APAP machine I have ever used so this review is based on 6 months of use by a newbie. The unit is pretty much plug n play. I attached the pulsed humidifier and slipped in the water cartridge. Attached my mask and slept soundly for the first night. I really like how easily the cartridge is to remove and refill. I travel internationally 4 times a year for extended periods. The machine is small and super quiet. My wife is happy cuz she can't hear it or me snoring anymore! The unit itself is very well built and battle tested on two overseas trips using 110v at home and 220v abroad. The display is easy to use and has all the info and settings at your fingertips.
Only knock I have is the iphone app software is clunky interfacing with the machine via bluetooth. Doesn't always download the machine therapy info to the app. You have to remove and reinstall the app on your iphone every once in a while to get the app software synced up with the machine.
Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase from cpap.com more...
