Learn More About This Product

CPAP mask manufacturers have developed several different styles of exhalation ports, which prevent air from hitting your face. Regardless of the design, As you exhale, air gets blown out of the ports and onto your face or pillow. This airflow can cause eye irritation, dryness, redness, itching or swelling.

The Onyix Eye Shield is the perfect solution for protection against CPAP mask exhaust. Typical eye masks are too large, preventing CPAP cushions from sealing around the nose. The Onyix is a compact, silicone-based design similar to swimming goggles. The goggles are held on with an adjustable microfiber headband that fits under any headgear, allowing the eyepiece to seal around your eyes. The black silicone also helps shade your eyes from light, like a traditional eye mask.

The Onyix Eye Shields are Latex Free and come with:

  • One pair of goggles
  • Protective microfiber travel sack
  • Stainless steel container
  • Product manual
Why do I wake up with dry eyes?
Air leaking from the mask at the bridge of the nose and over the eyes during sleep will cause the eyes to dry out. The most common reason for air leaking at the nose bridge is that the mask is too big or too long for the nose.

We would suggest you resize your mask to be sure you have the best fit. A mask that has an adjustment at the bridge may also be helpful in getting a good fit. Nasal pillow or nose cushion devices which do not rest on the nose are also an option.

It is not advisable to tighten the headgear to eliminate the air leak. Pressure from a mask that is too tight will cause bruises and even open sores if applied long enough.

Here are some suggested items that may help reduce mask leaks:

Silent Night Full Face Mask Liners
LiquiCell Nasal CPAP Cushions
RemZzzs Padded Full Face CPAP Mask Liners

Nothing Fancy, but it Does What it Says

Verified purchase | Jul. 24, 2012 | Verified CPAP.com Customer
When I first received the product I was not really impressed. My first thought was, I could have made this myself. Anyway, the materials used to make it are simple. It probably only cost $3 to make, but they sell it for $43.00. The can used to keep the eye shield is probably the most expensive. Nevertheless after suffering from irritating dry eyes from CPAP mask I decided to try this. The EYE Shield does the job, but you need to make sure that it is fitted correctly over your eyes. When it is properly fitted, you should see completely black. Overall, it is a usuable device, however, I believe that it is extremely overpriced.

Shield stops most of the air blowing into my eyes. The fit is comfortable but the headband slips alot. Blocks light mostly with a little leakage.

Did not help me

To be fair, this product could work for someone, but it actually made my puffy eyes much worse. It certainly did not meet my needs or expectations.

nose bridge too wide

Verified purchase | May. 19, 2012 | Verified CPAP.com Customer
light comes in from the nose bridge area. If it come with a couple different size nose bridge strips I might like them better. I still prefer to use the mask I already had that cost much less than the rubber ones.
