FAQs

Does the Paptizer Clean the Inside of a CPAP Hose?

Unfortunately, the UV light used by the Paptizer can only sterilize surfaces that it comes into direct contact with, which means it is not able to sterilize the inside of your CPAP tubing. The best way to clean the inside of your CPAP tubing is with a tube brush, such as the CPAP Tube Brush Second Gen, and a gentle soap like Purdoux’s Mask and Hose Soap. For additional cleanliness, we also offer the Healthy Hose Pro, which is antimicrobial, BPA-free, latex-free, and is designed to automatically prevent 99.99% of bacteria growth within the hose.

Does a CPAP Cleaner Replace the Routine Wipe-Down of My Mask Parts?

No, UV cleaners like the Paptizer are only designed to sterilize equipment after routine cleaning. Your equipment still needs to be regularly cleaned to clear surface debris like dead skin cells, sweat, and oils that can build up throughout the night. If you’re washing your mask and cushion with soap and water, the Paptizer can dry small amounts of water left behind after cleaning. If you’re looking to save a bit of time, however, wiping your mask and cushion down with a mask wipe is all you really need if you’re following up with a UV sanitizer.

Should I Expect a Smell To Come From My UV Cleaner?

It is completely normal for your UV sanitizer to emit a faint yet noticeable odor during the cleaning process. Usually, this indicates the sterilization of dead skin or hair cells and is not a cause for concern. However, you may notice a difference in the presence of this smell depending on how thoroughly you cleaned off your equipment before sterilization. If you notice a strong burning smell, disconnect the machine and contact us, as your device may be defective or isn’t working properly.

Is the antimicrobial tubing compatible with all CPAP masks?

This antimicrobial tubing is compatible with any CPAP mask that uses a standard hose connection. The only masks that will not be compatible with the Healthy Hose Pro are CPAP masks set up to work with the ResMed AirMini Travel CPAP, as those masks are designed to be compatible with a smaller hose size.

What Popular Machines Are Not Compatible With the Healthy Hose Pro?

The only CPAP machine that will not be natively compatible with the Healthy Hose Pro is the ResMed AirMini. For AirMini owners, you’ll need the Zephair AirMini Universal Mask Adapter to use the Healthy Hose Pro. Since this hose uses a 19mm inner diameter and 22mm rubber ends, you can use it in place of any standard-sized CPAP tubing.

Can I use a tube cleaning brush with the Healthy Hose Pro?

You can use a tube cleaning brush with the Healthy Hose Pro without damaging it. While this antimicrobial tubing inherently prevents bacteria buildup, it won’t clear saliva or mucus that is exhaled back into the tube. It also won’t prevent mineral deposits if you’re not using distilled water in your humidifier chamber, so scrubbing your hose weekly with a tube brush, soap, and water is strongly recommended.

Does the Healthy Hose Pro help reduce mineral deposits?

The Healthy Hose Pro drastically reduces the number of bacteria that live in your hose after use but doesn’t necessarily help reduce the number of mineral deposits. Mineral deposits are typically a result of using tap water or filtered water rather than distilled water in your CPAP humidifier.

What popular machines are not compatible with this hose?

The only CPAP machine that will not be natively compatible with the Healthy Hose Pro is the ResMed AirMini. For AirMini owners, you’ll need the Zephair AirMini Universal Mask Adapter to use the Healthy Hose Pro. Since this hose uses a 19mm inner diameter and 22mm rubber ends, you can use it in place of any standard-sized CPAP tubing.

How often should I clean my hose?

You should clean your CPAP hose once a week with warm soapy water and a tube brush, then hang it to drip dry out of direct sunlight. It’s also a good idea to hang your hose to dry every morning after use so that moisture doesn’t sit in the hose all day long. You should also replace your CPAP tubing every 3 to 6 months.
