• When to Replace Philips Respironics CPAP Hoses?

  Sticking to a regular replacement schedule is important for keeping your therapy effective because a leaky hose won’t be able to provide the prescribed therapy pressure you need for a good night’s rest. CPAP hoses can develop air leaks over time, typically around connection points, and should be replaced every six to twelve months. Learning how and when to clean your CPAP tubing is equally as important, as mold and bacteria thrive in warm, damp environments like the inside of your CPAP hose. Regularly and effectively cleaning your CPAP hose weekly and hanging it to dry daily can extend the life of your equipment.

  After you’ve had your hose for six months, it’s a good idea to inspect it once a month for leaks, though you’ll likely know about a leaky hose just from using your machine. To inspect, simply start your therapy without wearing your mask and feel along the tube for any air pressure escaping while you listen for a subtle hissing sound. To keep your hose operational for longer, make sure to only disconnect it by grabbing the rubber end, not the hose itself.

• What Options Do I Have for My DreamStation Hose?

  As a general rule, any standard tubing with 22mm end connections is compatible with your Philips DreamStation machine, but also consider these options from Philips:

  • DreamStation Heated Tubing: Heated tubing allows for consistent humidification no matter what the temperature of your sleeping environment is. Heated hoses also help eliminate rainout that results because of the built-up humidification in your tube. 
  • Respironics White Six Foot Performance Hose: Compatible with nearly all machines, this replacement hose features 22mm ends and a 19mm inner diameter and is 20% lighter and more flexible than standard tubing, helping to prevent pulling on your mask and seal disruptions.
  • Respironics Pure White Thin Six Foot Performance Hose: Featuring 22mm ends and a 15mm inner diameter, this thin performance tubing is a replacement for the hose that comes standard with your DreamStation Machine. It is both lighter and more flexible than standard tubing, making travel easier while also reducing mask drag. 
  • DreamStation Go 12mm Micro Tubing: A replacement 12mm micro tube that is only compatible with the DreamStation Go Travel CPAP Machine.

  Other Helpful Devices and Connectors:

  • CPAP Hose Coupling Swivel Adapter: A swiveling coupler can be added at several points in your tubing setup for more flexibility. Connect two hoses for more length, add a swivel to your mask where the hose connects for less mask drag, or if you have one, at the end of your short tube (where it connects to your main hose) for greater flexibility. 
  • CPAP Elbow Connector: This elbow adapter can help to reduce tube drag by allowing your hose to come straight to you instead of straight out of the back of your machine.
