To download data from a Respironics smart card on a Encore Pore with Encore Viewer Software 2.1, you need the Encore Smart Card Reader – USB.
This product is a card reader only; it does not include the smart card or any necessary software. The driver for this reader is included in the Encore Viewer Software 2.1.
This card reader has a USB port connection. If you need a serial port connection, we sell that version elsewhere on our site. You may find it easily by typing "serial" in our search window at the top right-hand side of the screen.
This package does not include a Smart Card.

Mine didn't work. My money was returned. You can buy better ones for about $12.
I bought an old used CPAP machine that works really well but it is no longer manufactured and parts are indeed hard to get. So I was amazed I could still get this smart card reader as no other smart card reader will work for me. Remstar M Series Pro is my machine which has the smart card recorder inside the machine.
Windows 7 64-bit is the only OS I have tried this on but it plugged in and worked flawlessly. Sometimes you just get a product that does what is says and with little effort. A+
I got the smart card reader and software in order to track my Apap usage. As a software engineer, I found the interface to be incredibly cumbersome and the standard software to be gutted to the point of being virtually useless. Not worth your time and effort.
It's really good to be able to track my results.
Good to know the record in order to adjust.
Worked as expected. Easy to use, just follow the brief instructions.
A smart card reader was absolutely the best purchase I've made, after the CPAP equipment itself. Since none of us know exactly what we do in our sleep unless someone sees it, the ability to download data was critical for me while I tweaked and confirmed I had once and for all taken care of system leaks that were compromising my therapy. If all is going well, a card reader might be a luxury. For me, it's made all the difference. Note: software is purchased separately and must be installed along with card drivers before trying to use the Encore Reader with a computer.
The Smart Card reader was really easy to connect to my computer. The setup process thats on the smart card reader disc (which you also need to buy) made it very easy to do the instalation. It's a good product, a must have, if you want to monitor your progress on your cpap or bipap machine.
The card reader and the software worked perfectly for me; I'm glad I ordered it.
I had no problem installing the Encore Viewer v1.0 Software on my Windows XP computer. The installation went fast, and once installed, I used the Encore Smart Card Reader to display my apnea activity profile from November, 2008 to the current date. My BiPAP supplier had previously printed out an activity profile of my apneas once, and it was a bit more detailed than what I get using the Encore Viewer Software and Smart Card Reader I now have. But, the convenience of being able to view and print out a profile of my apnea activity is excellent, and I plan to check my activity on an every other weekly basis.
This reader isn't acknowledged on my 64 bit laptop, but is readable on my Vista desktop. There was no disk labeled as a driver so I looked on the Encore Viewer software (I ordered reader and software as a package) and the driver was on that disk. I had no problem on my 32 bit computer, just don't buy this if you only have a 64 bit computer.
