Transcend Mask Adapter Ring

Added to the overall bulkiness & discomfort of the Transcend Bedside Waterless Kit

Once I aligned this product to my existing face mask, it seemed to click right in.

This adapter is required to work with one of your existing masks - if you have one of the few that have adapters. It makes the mask large and I was not happy with the noise and breath force required to use the mask.

This is the adapter ring for the Transcend II ultra-light travel CPAP. Their system is unique in that it replaces the humidifier with an open-cell element which retains your own breath's moisture and returns it to you while allowing exchange of breathing air. Instead of designing their own mask, Transcend chose to use the cushion from other masks. At the time I started, there were five cushions that could be used with the Transcend bedside or head-mount mask arrangements. The masks are sold without a cushion. This saves Transcend from patent battles and royalty payments which could swell the cost of their system beyond reason. Since the cushion you choose needs to be properly sealed into the mask, Transcend developed adapter rings to take each of the cushions now usable, and allow a simple way to add cushions which can be used in the future. THIS IS IMPORTANT: When you buy a Transcend II mask system, either bed-side or the traveler arrangement, you do not get a cushion nor the ring automatically! Instead, you choose a cushion style and specify that when you buy the mask. You _also_ need to acquire the cushion! You can take it from a mask you already own (if it is on the compatibility list) or just buy the cushion as a replacement part, even if you don't own the mask. But you must have the cushion separately from the Transcend kit, and you need to specify the adapter ring when you buy the mask kit! The ring type should match the cushion type. It is free when you buy the kit, and will cost extra if you forget to specify it when you buy the kit. (Cost, in that case, will be the same as buying a replacement ring.) The good news is that the rings work very well!
