Tube Brush: Instructions for Use
Please Note: The Tube Brush is compatible with standard (19mm) and slim (15mm) tubing only.
It is not compatible with the DreamStation Go 12mm Micro Tubing or the AirMini Tubing.
Step 1: Apply water and a cleaning element (mild soap or vinegar), if desired, to the tube. Please consult your user manual for advice on what works best with your specific tube. Be sure not to use solvents or cleaning sprays, as these can be toxic.
Step 2: Holding one end of the hose with either hand, use the other hand to insert the weighted end of the Tube Brush into the CPAP tube.
Step 3: Continue to feed the weighted end of the Tube Brush into the CPAP tube until the weight comes out the opposite end, and the brush is positioned near the hose outlet. Tip: This process works best if you keep the tube straight while performing this step.
Step 4: Use your fingers to push the brush end of the Tube Brush fully into the CPAP hose.
Step 5: Grasp the cable and weighted end of the Tube Brush with either hand while using the other hand to grasp the CPAP tube. Tip: Extend the arm holding the CPAP tube as far as comfortable for ease of pulling the Tube Brush through the CPAP tube. The tube is likely to kink. This is normal. Straightening the tube with your hand will reduce this effect.
Step 6: In one motion, pull the Tube Brush through the CPAP tube as far as possible.
Step 7: It may not be possible to pull the entire Tube Brush through in one pass. You'll need to grab the cable and resume pulling the tube brush through the hose, repositioning your hands as needed. You may need to repeat this step several times until you get the brush through the hose.
Tube Brush: Storage Instructions
Step 1: Pad the Tube Brush dry with a cloth towel to remove moisture and prevent the growth of bacteria and mold.
Step 2: The Tube Brush is best stored in a coil. Grasp one end of the Tube Brush while using the other hand to coil the Tube Brush into one hand, much like you would coil a garden hose.
Step 3: Wrap the brush end of the Tube Brush several times around the cable.
Step 4: Store the Tube Brush in a drawer or hang from a hook. For best results, keep away from moisture and store in a room with low humidity.
Bacteria Filter: Cautionary Tips
- Please Note: For children and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, the generic filter may contain phthalates which may cause adverse health effects.
- For those using an APAP machine, the filter may cause airflow to become restricted. Those with an average pressure of 7cm H2O or less may be advised not to use the filter as an additional filtration system.
Bacteria Filter: Heated Hose Compatibility
If using the heated tube designed for one of the following machines, the heated tube is not designed for use with the generic filter. These hoses have a specific end component that fits directly onto the machine. The bacteria filter will not have a unique connection point; therefore, the hoses are not compatible unless the filter is placed between the mask and the CPAP hose. Please Note: Adding the filter near the mask may increase the bulk of the interface.
- ClimateLineAir™ Heated Tube for AirSense™ 10 and AirCurve™ 10 Machines
- PR System One Heated Tube for 60 Series Auto CPAP Machine
- ClimateLine™ Tubing for S9™ and H5i™ Climate Control System
- Thermosmart Heated Hose for 600 Series CPAPs
The Hybernite Rainout Control System is compatible because the filter fits between the hose and machine.
Is it Safe to Use a Bacteria Filter with a Heated Humidifier?
The filter is safe for use with heated humidifiers. Though it is important to remember, heated humidifiers can drip water into the filter. If water drips into the filter, moisture can clog the filter and result in less effective therapy. If the filter becomes wet, remove it from the machine and set out to dry. Dry time may vary.
Bacteria Filter and Machine Compatibility
Due to the unique design of the AirMini™ device and the compatible CPAP hose, the AirMini™ is not engineered for use with this generic bacteria filter.
While the generic filter is suited for a large number of CPAP machines, please note the following machines are also not designed for use with the filter due to the Auto On/Off feature which when paired with the bacteria filter have difficulty sensing airflow.
