Setup & cleaning

Installation:

  • Power down and remove the AirSense 11 water chamber.
  • Align the Side Cover and press into place until flush.
  • To restore humidification, reinstall the water chamber.

Cleaning:

  • The side cover only needs to be wiped down externally as needed.
  • Do NOT wash the inside of the side cover or use water. There is sound-abatement foam inside the side cover, which is not designed to handle water.
  • The side cover is not designed to allow easy access to this interior foam for drying, so introducing water to it will allow mold to grow inside, and you'll need to replace it.
  • Inspect the silicone seals where the side cover connects to your machine's air outlets every 6 months for visible signs of cracking or leaks and replace as needed.

Additional tips:

  • The side cover introduces a closed air circuit that will not house moisture.
  • Only filtered air flows through it, so you don't need to clean the inside.
  • Once the side cover is inserted, there's no need to remove it unless you're planning to replace it with the standard water chamber.
  • If you still want to use heated tubing without humidification, continue using the empty water chamber instead, as this side cover will disable heated tubing automatically.

FAQs about the ResMed AirSense 11 Side Cover (End Cap)

Do I need to clean the AirSense 11 side cover?

You only need to wipe down the outside of the side cover as needed. The inside houses sound-abatement foam that should never be exposed to water.

While this foam is not accessible from the outside, the housing is not waterproof, and water will get into the foam if you try to wash it. The housing is not designed to be easy to take apart, so it will be difficult to dry the foam if it is exposed to water.

The inside of the side cover will only be exposed to filtered air and should not have moisture present at any point. Just as you do not need to clean the inside of your machine's motor, you do not need to clean the inside of the side cover, either.

Why should I use the AirSense 11 side cover?

If you do not use your humidifier or heated tubing, the AirSense 11 side cover offers quieter therapy and a more compact size for your AirSense 11 by replacing your current water chamber. The side cover uses sound-abatement foam to reduce airflow noise and slightly reduces the size of your AirSense 11.
