When breathing against pressurized air feels forceful, leaks, noise, and discomfort can follow. The SleepRes V‑Com CPAP Comfort Accessory offers a simple inline solution: soften the breath in, keep support on the breath out, and make nightly therapy easier to stick with.

Placed between your mask and hose, V‑Com reduces the intensity of inspiratory flow while maintaining exhalation pressure. The result is a gentler feel at the exact moment therapy can be most noticeable—your inhale. Setup is quick and no prescription is needed.

  • Softer inhalation: Reduces the rush of air as you breathe in.
  • Fewer leaks: Helps keep your mask seal steady when pressure ramps.
  • Less noise: Calmer airflow can mean quieter nights for light sleepers.
  • Reduced air swallowing: Many users report less swallowed air during therapy.
  • Stick with therapy: New users were more likely to continue past 90 days.
  • Quick setup: Inline adapter; no settings changes required.

Softer inhalation for easier, quieter CPAP with V‑Com

How V‑Com softens inhalation

V‑Com introduces a controlled restriction on the inhale side while preserving supportive pressure during exhale. That targeted balance reduces perceived intensity without meaningfully altering therapeutic support. For a deeper dive into the mechanism and testing, see the manufacturer’s white paper on the science behind V‑Com.

Fewer leaks, calmer nights

By easing the inspiratory surge, V‑Com helps stabilize mask seals and calms airflow for a more peaceful sleep environment. In published data, the device reduced the need for chinstraps and mouth tape by 85%, and research suggests a 20% noise reduction during use (SleepRes white paper).

Compatibility and setup essentials

Connect V‑Com directly between your mask and standard hose, and place it as close to the mask as possible for best effect.

  • Machines: Works with CPAP, APAP, and BiLevel (including travel machines); not tested with ASV.
  • Masks: Compatible with standard front‑facing hose connections; not for top‑of‑the‑head designs (e.g., AirFit F30i, DreamWear).
  • Pairing idea: Choose a comfortable, front‑facing mask such as the Nova Micro Nasal Pillow Mask or use with a popular machine like the AirSense 11 AutoSet.
Comfort tuning: first‑week tips
  1. V‑Com tends to be more effective at moderate to higher pressures, starting around 10 cmH₂O.
  2. If therapy feels too light, you may need a slight pressure increase while using V‑Com; consult your care team before changing settings.
  3. If airflow sounds louder, re‑position V‑Com closer to the mask and ensure secure connections.
  4. If your setup requires it, a short tube extender can help achieve optimal placement.

I was struggling with the pressure of air flow and keeping my nasal pillows in place and staying asleep. This small accessory has worked surprisingly well. I’m back to high sleep scores and my mask off score is a consistently low.

    This was recommended to me

This was recommended to me by my sleep apnea nurse. I was her first patient to give the V-Com a try. Unfortunately it did not work for me as the noise it emitted when inhaling was quite loud and made falling asleep difficult. Any suggestions?
