Care & cleaning

At a glance—what to clean and when

  • Clean after each use (daily):
    Cushion and frame assembly (includes the flexible short tube).
    (Remove the diffuser before washing the frame/short tube; set the diffuser aside to stay dry.)
  • Clean weekly:
    Headgear, diffuser/vent cover, and a deep clean of the frame assembly and optional tube clip (if used).

Daily (after each use)

  1. Take off the mask and unclip the headgear from the frame.
  2. Separate the cushion from the frame assembly. Remove the diffuser from the vent and set it aside (do not wash the diffuser daily).
  3. Wash the cushion and frame/short tube in warm, soapy water (mild dish soap). Swish for up to 10 minutes—don’t soak longer.
  4. Rinse under running water until all soap is gone.
  5. Air-dry completely out of direct sunlight.

Weekly (deep clean)

  1. Fully disassemble for cleaning: remove the cushion, detach the headgear, take off the diffuser, and unhook the optional tube clip if you use it.
  2. Wash cushion, frame/short tube, headgear, diffuser, and tube clip in warm, soapy water (mild dish soap). Limit soak to 10 minutes.
  3. Rinse thoroughly so no suds remain.
  4. Inspect parts; if residue remains, rewash and rinse.
  5. Air-dry completely out of direct sunlight before reassembly.

Reassembly (when fully dry)

  1. Press the cushion evenly onto the frame until it seats all the way around.
  2. Attach the headgear to both clips and pull gently until you feel them latch.
  3. Press the diffuser/vent cover back onto the vent until it sits flush.
  4. Reinstall the optional tube clip on the top strap if you use it.

Do & don’t

  • Do clean with mild dish soap and water only.
  • Don’t use alcohol, bleach, chlorine, moisturizers, antibacterial agents, or ozone devices—these can damage materials.
  • Don’t machine-wash or put parts in the dishwasher.
  • Don’t share your mask.

Replacement cadence (typical)

  • Cushion: every 1–3 months or at the first signs of wear or persistent leaks.
  • Headgear: about every 6 months (earlier if stretched).
  • Mask Frame/short tube: every 6-12 months.

Will the Nova Nasal work with my CPAP machine?

Yes—Nova connects to standard CPAP tubing and is compatible with all home PAP devices without an adapter. To use with a Resmed AirMini, you will need the AirMini Universal Tube Adapter and a standard, unheated hose with 22mm connections.

    Filter comes off easily

    I really enjoyed this mask for the first week of using it. It was my first ever mask and it was comfy. However, I had been popping off the little filter in front of the nasal part when I cleaned the mask so it wouldn’t get wet and last night it had major leakage issues. My CPAP machine wasn’t registering any air going back into the machine, it was all going out the little mask filter. So I did a little engineering on it and now it will never come out again. (I probably won’t be getting this mask again).

    Better for me than ResMed N20 Air Touch

    I've just tried the Nova Nasal. I originally wanted it for the ability to clip the hose to the head because I am an active sleeper. This feature doesn't work too well for me because my head is a little too small for the standard headgear. But I am keeping it because the mask is much more comfortable as a whole than the N20 and judging by events per hour, it works better for me. For the first time in 2 years, the cushion and frame don't wake me up for readjustments all night. At least do far as I can tell. And no marks or sore areas on my face in the morning.

    Nasal mask

    After being devastated that my beloved Wisp nasal mask was discontinued , I tried two other nasal masks and this one is by far the most comparable mask; however, I have a head on the small side of normal and could DEFINITELY use another hole in the mask frame, as well as an XS nasal mask. I miss my Wisp that allowed me to sleep comfortably for 12 years, but this is the next best nasal mask IMO.
