After years of using the F30i along with several other under-the-nose style masks, I was tired of raw sore spots on the underside of my nose. The airtouch version of the f30i did not seal due to my beard. So I switched to this mask just to try a different shape. Instant relief on my nose! I wear glasses, so the spot where the top of the mask rests is right in the same spot as my glasses on the bridge of my nose, so I'm not concerned about pressure marks there, although i haven'thad any marks that lasted more than a few minutes. The biggest win is the actual therapy. With the f30i, my AHI was 0.1 almost consistently. Too good to be true, right? My leak rate however was 24-48L/min every night, and that was with a great seal. For years its been that way and I thought i was doing good based on the AHI. Turns out the F30i has too many ways to exhaust air to be effective (top of the head, holes in the front, the two holes where the frame connects to the cushion). After using the F20, my AHI rose to 3 (which initially I was alarmed by that), but the leak rate dropped to 4L/min. After researching, it seems my machine can't detect events with a leak rate that high and I was getting no therapy at all, for years! For the first time in over 3 years, I slept 8 hours in a night. I couldn't sleep more than 5 or 6 hours without waking up with a splitting headache, probably from untreated apneas and hypoxia all night. I dreaded going to sleep early. Now I look forward to it. …
