S8™ and S8™ II ResScan™ Card Reader Overview
The ResMed ResScan™ Smart Card Reader for S8™ and S8™ II Machines is the card reader allowing ResMed CPAP users to download information from a ResScan Smart Card for processing by ResScan software.
The card reader is connected to a windows computer (not included with purchase) USB connection.
This product is the card reader ONLY and does NOT include the smart card or ResScan software. These products are not longer available, but may be viewed using the following links: Smart Card and ResScan Version 3.7 Software.
As an alternative download-capable product, consider the ResScan™ USB Adapter for ResMed S8™ and S8™ II Series Machines, which transfers data without the need of a Card Reader or Smart Card.
I am new to using CPAP machines and was not sure how to her monthly reports. Upon reading many reviews and forums,I ended up at cpap.com. Could not be happier. CPAP.com offered very fast shipping. They had just what I was looking for at an affordable rate. This resscan worked right out of the box (requires the proper software from resmed's website). Read my smartcard without any issues and the report was printed. If you want to be your own monitor and track down your sleeping progress, get one of these. You will not regret. more...

Worked as advertised
The cardreader is excellent, the one i had had read its last card. Thanks
This purchase replaces a non-ResMed card reader which failed after 3 years. Notwithstanding the value of monitoring my CPAP therapy, the data system on the S8 is, and has been, absolutely terrible. This device (the Smart Card Reader) is slow and unreliable. ResMed chose to use a non-standard physical format for the card which requires an expensive "special" reader which consists of a standard ACR38 reader with special card guide. The ACR38 format is not widely used in the US. Hence, competitive alternatives to the reader are not readily available. Cards in the ResScan size and shape are proprietary to ResMed, and are extremely expensive, considering their very meager data capacity. Despite the card/reader shortcomings, the ResScan software is worse. I'm a programmer with a PC far exceeding the specs of the typical user, and it takes minutes to download and review my daily downloads. It should take seconds. Reporting is limited and inflexible. When it comes time to replace my S8 Autoset, comparing the data systems of competitive devices will play a big part in my machine selection. Despite my strong criticism of the product, if you have a data-capable S7 or S8 and you have no card reader, I would urge you to get one. The software is available online - see cpcptalk.com - and if you don't have the card which came with the unit, they are also available online. Its use will give you a much greater insight into your therapy. more...
