Still getting used to this product. I have used CPAP products for many years (at least 10), and needed to replace the headgear (the webbing). I tried this new variant (same manufacturer, compatible with my current mask) because it has additional cross straps at the back of the head. I expected it to be less susceptible to shape distortion. And I believe this is correct. The surprise is that the velcro connectors at the ends of each strap are different, and no additional information about their use was included. The old straps had in each case a single longer strip of velcro to bind the strap to the connector on the mask -- or in the case of two straps, the small plastic connectors that allow the strap end to snap on to the connector on the mask. The difference is that there are in each case two (2) smaller velcro strips, arranged in series, at the ends of each strap. The straps connect by using the velcro to circle back onto the strap to enclose the mask point of connection. With this new variant, the second velcro strip is right where the loop makes its sharpest turn -- that is, right at the point of connection to the mask connector. I don't understand what function the second velcro strip should be playing. Experience has shown that all CPAP straps stretch over time, and consequently, the user must tighten the straps from time to time. It may be that eventually the straps will stretch to such an extent that the second strip of velcro will become needed to make a tight (or well stuck) attachment to the strap. And maybe at that time, the second strip of velcro will have moved (by the stretching) to the point where it no longer interferes with the connection to the mask. That's just a guess. If not that, I can't imagine what the designers had in mind. There are no pictures or text to explain. I am getting a good connection to the mask with this webbing. It is simply not as convenient to work with. I remove the webbing each morning when I clean the mask. Doing this in this manner is a lot easier for mask cleaning (than leaving the straps on) and avoids wetting and drying the straps each day.
