Hurricane Dryer Use Tips
Always shake the cleaned, wet CPAP supplies over a sink or basin to remove any extra water after rinsing. This prevents large amounts of water from pooling in the dryer, possibly causing an over-flow of the water tray and potentially preventing the items from becoming thoroughly dry.
CPAP headgear should be thoroughly squeezed of excess water before placing in the dryer for best results.
Always empty the water tray after each drying cycle of supplies.
Safety Instructions
To reduce the risk of shock, a polarized plug has been installed to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. A loose fit between the AC outlet and plug may cause overheating and distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or worn outlets.
- Plug the Hurricane Dryer into a 120V AC power outlet. Never pull the plug by the cord
- Always place the Hurricane dryer on a firm, flat and level surface
- Place the dryer in an area not accessible to children
- Do not cover dryer during or after use
- Do not place dryer near a heat source such as stoves, radiators or heaters, very humid or freezing areas
- Do not move the dryer when in use
- Do not overload with supplies
- Do not put painted and non-heat-resistant objects in the dryer
- Make sure to use the enclosed stainless steel basket
- Do not block the warm air outlet. Blocking the outlet will damage the dryer
- Do not pour water into the warm air outlet
- Do not immerse any part of the appliance in water or other liquid
- Do not touch the warm air outlet
- Clean the Hurricane dryer weekly or as needed
- When a drying session has been completed, the supply basket may still be warm to the touch
- DO NOT clean the Hurricane CPAP Dryer with its power on. Electric shock or injury may occur
Recommendations for Best Drying Results
- All items placed in the dryer should be disassembled for cleaning and drying.
- Separate the CPAP humidifier chamber from its base if possible.
- Separate the CPAP mask cushion or nasal pillows from the mask frame.
- Headgear can remain attached to the mask frame for drying.
- Place smaller parts in the bottom portion of the basket with the narrower "basket webbing".
- Insert just one end of the CPAP hose over the hose-port. There is a notched hole, which must be kept clear to help evacuate excess water in the tubing. If you are drying CPAP hoses with a pressure-line in them, only place the end of the CPAP hose over the hose-port that does not have the pressure line protruding out of the side of the hose end.
Heated Tubing and the Hurricane
Heated tubing can be dried in the Hurricane Equipment Dryer.
Air Filter Maintenance
Reusable foam filters should be replaced when they deteriorate and begin to fall apart, much as a sponge does. The foam filter should be washed with a mild detergent monthly and should be replaced every 6 months or more if the foam is torn.
