Once AC power is restored, the battery will begin providing that power to the machine again.

Solar Charge: At this time the Z1 Machine and PowerShell CANNOT be charged using solar power. The manufacturer is working towards a solar charge solution, an expected date is not available.
This product is for use only with the Z1 CPAP Machine. It is not compatible with any other machines.
I use this when I travel by air but it is not comfortable/convenient enough to take along when I have room to take my larger, bedside cpap. I bought batteries to go along with this and none of them could go a full 8 hours on a full charge out of the box. It blows dry air which can be problematic for me on some nights. A moisturizer attachment came complimentary with the unit but it wasn't inexpensive to buy them for extended use. My bedside cpap has me spoiled and all I have to do is inhale to turn it on. This one requires me to push a button which isn't that bad but is something I usually do not remember until I'm settled in. All in all, an ok machine but not much more than that. more...
I assume the powershell form is a result of it's function but it's a little bulky and the portability of the Z1 is compromised in my opinion. Also, once the battery is inserted, the Z1 is powered and there is no way to turn off the unit and save the battery from completely discharging without physically removing the battery. Aside from the obvious problem of battery drain, you now have the added bulk of carrying the battery outside of the unit while travelling. Not necessarily a deal breaker but a nuisance, nonetheless. more...

I like the design and function .
The size and weight makes this great for travel, especially on the airplane.
