The PR CPAP humidifier and water chamber design are breakthroughs for managing rain-out and water damage. System One Humidity Control technology analyzes ambient temperature and patient airflow to reach relative humidity at the mask. Choose from 5 levels of relative humidity. System One is the first humidifier in the industry which accounts for room humidity. Sensors, inside and outside the CPAP machine, closely monitor changes in humidity and help to prevent condensation from forming inside the tube.
Dry Box technology is another breakthrough in reducing water damage to the CPAP. Several unique designs are incorporated into the humidifier to prevent water from exiting the chamber. To start, the air outlet port has been moved from the side of the humidifier onto the top. This centers the entire delivery; minimizing the total water displacement around the hole. The water chamber is outfitted with one-way valve, between the machine and the humidifier. Any water that manages to escape the chamber gets trapped within the Dry Box, which acts as a reservoir for any water ingress past the valve.
System One and Dry Box Technology make it possible for the Respironics machines to be truly spill-free. This humidifier, even with a chamber filled to the "Full" indicator line, can be tilted, shaken, and even turned upside down without water leaking back into the device. Digital Auto-Trak Algorithm and Bi-Flex Technology
Digital Auto-Trak Sensitivity is the brains behind Respironics' Flex Technology and AVAPS feature. A patented algorithm monitors breathing patterns and responds to abnormal pressure changes. The Auto-Trak system measures variable triggers and cycle thresholds, then adjusts pressure automatically to provide effective sleep therapy. The Digital Auto-Trak components are always active and the system reacts to the first component that detects a change in sleep, providing maximum sensitivity.
Bi-Flex Technology allows the PR BiPAP to track each breath and helps provide pressure relief during three critical points in the breathing cycle. Pressure is reduced by half centimeter increments during the transition from exhalation to inhalation, inhalation to exhalation and during exhalation.The Bi-Flex setting can be adjusted up to 1.5cm of water pressure for maximum comfort. Bi-Flex comes standard with the PR BiPAP Series and can be turned on when in BiLevel Mode and Auto Bi-Level Mode (also known as Spontaneous Mode).
The PR BiPAP ST mode overrides the Bi-Flex feature and responds to breathing patterns in the same manor, increasing pressure when you start to inhale and decreases pressure when you start to exhale. Unlike the BiLevel mode with Bi-Flex, Spontaneous Timed (S/T) Mode allows users to set the machine's Breathe Rate and Rise Time. Setting the Breathe Rate lets the machine know how many breaths per minute the system uses to calculate when to automatically switch from exhalation to inhalation. Rise Comfort is the time it takes for the device to change from EPAP to IPAP and can be set as follows: (0ff=150, 1=200, 2=300, 3=400 msec). AVAPS Feature
Average Volume Assured Pressure Support (AVAPS) is an advanced noninvasive ventilation feature that automatically adjusts pressure support while maintaining a target tidal volume. The PR BiPAP AVAPS works in the following modes: Spontaneous.
S Mode responds to users needs by increasing pressure when you start to inhale and decreases pressure when you start to exhale. The unit will not initiate a breath if you do not inhale. Spontaneous Timed.
ST Mode is similar to S Mode, but ST Mode will initiate a breath and automatically starts IPAP. When IPAP starts, the machine controls the duration of IPAP and automatically lowers pressure to EPAP within a set time. Pressure Control.
PC Mode responds to inhalation breathing by increasing the pressure. The length of inhalation is controlled by the machine. If an inhalation is not detected within a set time, the device will initiate a breath. Unlike Spontaneous Timed, PC Mode does not automatically decreases the pressure for exhalation within a set time. Timed.
T Mode is an optional bi-level mode in which the machine manages breathing independent of spontaneous airflow changes. IPAP and EPAP automatically alternates based on a set time.
AVAPS can be turned on with any of the four modes above. When active, therapy pressures vary based on the total volume of air used during each breath. Encore Data Management and Reporting
On-board memory has been added to the BiPAP as well as storing information on a generic SD Memory card and reads through any SD card reader. Use EncoreViewer Software to monitor therapy effectiveness through a series of reports. A new Patient Flow and Event report enables users to view a weekly breakdown on per-breath basis. Patient data is used to identify particular conditions and events with specific colors.
