Join Today! All CPAPs will operate on DC power with the use of an Inverter to change the current from DC to AC before it reaches the machine. However, many will operate on DC power without the need for an inverter, just a power cord that plugs into the CPAP and ends in a cigarette lighter plug.
Inverters do require a lot of power. If you need to use an inverter to run your machine on battery power, the inverter will probably take about half the life off the battery.
To determine if your CPAP will operate without an inverter, look for a DC outlet on the machine, either at the back or on the side, with a single opening directly in the center. It should be labeled "DC POWER" or similar term. You can also review our Compare Charts to see if your machine has a optional DC cable option.
Here is a video describing different DC cable and battery options for various machines:
All machines can connect to DC power. Some machines are configured to operate on DC Power and have a DC power outlet. Other machines require AC power and will need an Inverter that turns DC power to AC power.
Having the proper equipment is the biggest key to successfully operating the machine from a battery. For example, if your machine does have a DC outlet and you want to run your machine from a marine battery, be sure to get the correct DC cable for the machine, as well as an adapter cable with alligator clips that fits over the cigarette lighter plug.
CPAP.com sells complete battery kits with everything you need for many machines including the correct cables for those machines and batteries. If you have questions about the specific power needs of your machine, review the 'Power' tab found on the machine's product page, or give us a call at 1-800-356-5221.
Excelent product. Holds charge for a good nights sleep plus.
Took my CPAP on a 3 night camping trip. Worked all night long. Had to recharge battery in morn using a generator available at campground.
This battery pack was delivered quickly and works as designed.
Fantastic!. With the frequent power failures we are having these days, it is nice to know I have a battery that will last all night,.
Good product for those who need their CPAP away from electricity.
Not used yet
Love these batteries. Stay charged, without dehum. can do part of a second night or nap. Do get the Everest if you camp, fly, sleep in the car or live with uncertain electrical. You will not regret it.
nice to know i am not locked to a plug....best reason of all to have this machine
This is a one of the three stacking components of a complete CPCAP travel machine which includes the main unit and a heated humidifier. The system should be powered through its battery at all times so that the battery remains fully charged and ready to supply emergency power if commercial power goes down. When fully charged and used off the commercial power grid, the battery should provide continuous CPAP and humidifier operations at the lowest heat settings for about two nights. If you can recharge the battery off the grid, using for example a power inverter run from a vehicle's electrical system, the CPAP battery should provide the same service as using the system at home. The battery pack now protects me from power outages and allows me the freedom to go camping again.
A little heavy but works great. We have a weekend cabin that loses power frequently this now allows me to sleep through the night without any issues. A great option that more machines should offer.
Good product but should come with explicit instructions about maintaining battery life. (My first battery quit charging due to my not discharging it on a monthly basis). I called AEIOMed and got the following instructions: Charge battery pack monthly (8 hours or longer). Check lights on back (by pressing Key indicator at back for level of charge). Discharge fully at least once a month and then recharge. By using my battery occasionally at home (to make certain it's working properly) and following the instructions to charge/discharge/recharge monthly, I'm confident to use it for my trip.
I purchased this with the matching cpap machine and humidifer. The whole set is perfect for travel and easy to set up.
