The DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Standard CPAP System is designed to optimize therapy effectiveness. There are three large buttons for CPAP users to operate the device. Built for durability, the unit is water resistant, has a stainless steel heat transfer plate and a water chamber constructed of Lexan (polycarbonate resin thermoplastic). Use the optional heated humidifier to provide additional comfort and humidity for your sleep therapy. The exclusive humidifier chamber is easy to remove and designed to maximize humidity with a larger surface area. Along with the unique baffle design, the water chamber allows the airflow to collect more humidity. DeVilbiss designed the chamber to hold enough water for a full night's sleep. At the humidifier's highest setting, you can still expect a full 8 hours of humidification.

Powering the unit is achieved through docking with the CPAP, eliminating the need for bulky power adapters or extra hoses.

Please take into consideration that the IntelliPAP Standard is a basic CPAP machine that tracks basic time usage. 3 Year Warranty

Most Brand Name manufacturers' CPAPs operate at 30dBA or higher and come standard with only a two year warranty. DeVilbiss comes with an industry leading, 3-year warranty service.

CPAP.com will work with the manufacturer on your behalf if the machine needs repairs. Please follow these steps:

Contact us at cpap@cpap.com or 1-800-356-5221 to receive an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) Number before returning the equipment
Include a note with the machine describing the issue you are experiencing, along with your full contact information to include a return shipping address and the RMA number provided to you
Ship only the defective items to CPAP.com at 10101 Stafford Centre Drive, Stafford, TX 77477
Do not return accessory items such as the carry bag, hose or power cords
Loaner Machines are available for rental during the warranty process

Firmware Updates

DeVilbiss offers free firmware upgrades for the IntelliPAP Series of CPAP machines. For example, The AutoAdjust update allows existing owners to add SmartCode and SmartFlex technologies. You can check for the most recent firmware update here: Model DV5 Series Firmware Updates.

Once you have downloaded the firmware software, use the IntelliPAP CPAP to PC Firmware Upgrade Serial Cable to upload your DeVilbiss firmware to the machine from your computer. The cable connects to the back of the CPAP and to any PC serial port on your computer.

IntelliPAP users must have a PC serial port available for the firmware upgrade to work. The DeVilbiss software only supports a serial connection; USB-to-USB or other connections will not work. If your computer does not come with a serial port, CPAP.com provides a USB male to Serial male (9-pin) DB-9 RS-232 adapter that allows users to update their IntelliPAP CPAP machines through your computer's USB port. If you do not have a serial port available, then you will need to buy both cords together: IntelliPAP Firmware Upgrade Cable with USB-to-Serial PC Adapter.

Here are some basic instructions on how to install a firmware update once you have downloaded the software to your PC:

Bacteria Filters

A bacteria filter will not install directly to the air outlet port on the IntelliPAP Heated Humidifier. The filter is too bulky and there is not enough space. IntelliPAP humidifier owners can order the FlexiTube Angle Adapter for CPAP and BiPAP Machines to provide a spacer between the humidifier and the bacteria filter. Your CPAP hose can then fit onto the other end of the bacteria filter.

CPAP Power Options

Universal Power

The DeVilbiss IntelliPAP system operates automatically between 110v and 240v AC. When traveling either inside or outside the USA, there are no switches to switch or fuses to change. The machine will automatically sense what voltage is needed and set itself to run on that power.

The user will need to adapt the plug that goes into the wall to fit the style of outlet socket that is being used. This is simply done with a Power Adapter Plug kit. This is the same type of plug adapter that would be used with a hair dryer or an electric shaver. World Traveler Power Adapter Plugs.

IntelliPAP 12 volt DC Power Cord

The IntelliPAP Series come equipped with a DC plug on the back of the unit. This allows the user to connect the CPAP to an external DC battery source. The IntelliPAP can be powered by plugging the 12volt DC Power Cord into a cigarette lighter plug. This is ideal for traveling by car, boat, or recreational vehicle that is equipped with a cigarette lighter plug.

"I have been a user for 15 years & still have my first cpap & it still works. Very noisy, heavy only passive humidification.
I needed a machine to travel with & heated humidification. After reading many reviews I decided to by this unit and am very pleased with it. My wife cant believe how quite it is. She asked me the first couple of days if it was on. A feature I like very much is the auto on & off. I just put on my mask and take a couple of breaths and it is on, in the morning I take off the mask and about 30 seconds it turns off. I did not want the ramp up to pressure so I bought the one without it not because it was cheaper.

"I have this unit with the Heated Humidifier. I bought it to be my travel unit as I travel weekly. For me, it is way too big to be considered a travel unit. I can't fit it into my suitcase. In fact, I am looking for another one now. The unit is easy to operate and seems to perform fine. However, the Heated Humidifier is difficult to fill. I have an AEIOMed Everest 2 with Heated Humidifier that I have been using for travel for several years now & it is much more compact and better suited for that, it fits nicely into my suitcase. I would have bought another one of those had I been able to. Very disappointed in this unit."

"While the product seems to work well enough, the instructions--in the form of photos only--were erroneous. They show to open the back plug, then to connect the humidifier and never tell you that if you use a humidifier that plug should not be removed.

Second, the product is not as light as my Everest2 (Aiomed?) which is discontinued. And the bag provided with the CPAP does not have enough room for the head gear even after opening the extra zipped section."

What comes with my machine?

Machines come with a six foot hose, power cord, at least one filter, and manuals. Most manufacturers include a carrying case which is designed specifically for their equipment. CPAP / BiPAP / APAP machines do not come with a delivery system or mask. CPAP Masks must be purchased separately.

What maintenance is required on machines?

The only care required for machines is to clean or change the filters at the air intake of the machine to keep the internal parts from accumulating dust.

There are other suggested actions to care for your machine:

Keep the area around your machine clean. Remove any dust from around your machine to improve the air quality delivered to your machine.
Keep the air intake of the machine unblocked. Curtains, bedding, and papers can easily block the air intake of your machine, reducing the airflow to your machine.
If you have a humidifier, it is suggested that you do not pick up the machine with the humidifier attached. With most machines, it is easy to spill water from the humidifier into the machine and cause damage. To avoid this, it is suggested to remove the machine from the humidifier instead of transporting them together.
If you have a humidifier, it is also suggested that you empty the water from the chamber every morning. Accidents happen. If a family pet, or family member moves the machine and humidifier, when there is water in the chamber, it is more likely an accident could happen where water is spilled into your machine.

Do all CPAPs use filters?

Yes, all CPAPs use at least one filter that is usually a type of foam material and washable. Some CPAPs offer finer filtration with the addition of a disposable paper filter.

Cleaning and changing filters is the only maintenance required for a CPAP machine.

How do I use a battery to operate my CPAP?

First you need to determine if your machine is configured to operate on DC power and has a DC power outlet. If your machine does have a DC power outlet and you want to run your marine battery, then you will need the correct DC cable for your machine and an adapter cable that fits over the cigarette lighter plug and ends in alligator clips.

How do I prepare for plane travel with CPAP?

Your CPAP does NOT count against your carry on limits. Allow for an additional 10-20 minutes in security, not likely but it happens. If airport personnel ask about the CPAP, let them know politely that it is a medical device (a CPAP unit). Most of them understand what it is and that it is an exception to the normal rules. What does CPAP therapy do?

CPAP therapy provides a constant airflow which holds the airway open so that uninterrupted breathing is maintained during sleep. It is traditionally provided through a nasal mask that seals around the nose to maintain the pressure level.

Will my CPAP operate on DC / battery power?

All CPAPs will operate on DC power with the use of an inverter to change the current from DC to AC before it reaches the machine. However, many will operate on DC power without the need for an inverter, just a power cord that plugs into the CPAP and ends in a cigarette lighter plug.

Inverters do require a lot of power. If you need to use an inverter to run your machine on battery power, the inverter will probably take about half the life off the battery.

To determine if your CPAP will operate without an inverter, look for a DC outlet on the machine, either at the back or on the side, with a single opening directly in the center. Will my CPAP operate overseas?

What type of battery should I use?

For longer battery use, we suggest a deep-cycle marine battery. A CPAP set at 10cm will usually run for about three nights before having to recharge a deep cycle marine battery. A car battery will usually run a machine for 8 hours and still start the car.

There are small, portable battery packs that will operate a CPAP set at 10cm for at least one night, or about eight hours.
